NBA Fit app aims to get you in game shape, minus the superstar-level skills

LeBron James kept the Cleveland Cavaliers’ championship hopes alive on Wednesday night with a decisive victory over the Golden State Warriors, and if you’re looking for a way to keep your own fitness hopes on track, you may consider downloading the National Basketball Association’s very own fitness app.

NBA Fit is the result of a partnership with Under Armour, marrying the NBA’s exclusive content with the interactive Under Armour Connected Fitness platform. It might not get you into Game 6 of the finals, but just maybe, you’ll at least feel fit enough to do so.

Sure, there are plenty of fitness apps already on the market, but in addition to tracking and sharing fitness goals and progress, you can also use the app to search for workout tips from highly sought-after NBA trainers. So if you want to know how King James, Steph Curry, and other basketball superstars get and stay in shape for the season, this might be the way to go.

Moreover, the app also features video content from both NBA and WNBA players, because what better way to be inspired than to watch some of the game’s most successful athletes in action? And if you really want to see them in action (live), finish some of the in-app challenges for the chance to win tickets to a game.

“Through this partnership, we are able to combine Under Armour’s connected fitness expertise with the league’s fitness knowledge to create an experience that inspires people to be active, eat healthy, and play together,” said Todd Jacobson, the NBA’s senior vice president of social responsibility.

Under Armour echoed this sentiment, with Peter Murray, VP of global sports marketing, noting, “Our partnership with the NBA on the NBA Fit App demonstrates our shared commitment to making all athletes better through the power of social health and fitness experiences. We are committed to continuing our work together in fostering the worldwide growth of basketball and inspiring a community of users through various challenges, training tips, and exclusive content.”

I record interviews for work. These are my favorite free recorder apps

Before you head to the app store on your phone to buy a voice-recording app, take a moment to consider the apps that may already be installed on your phone. Why? In my experience, they're likely all you really need. I’ve recorded interviews and voice-overs for work for years, and I’ve found the two best examples come preinstalled on your phone already, so they’re entirely free to use.

Google Pixel Tablet just got its first big discount and it’s worth a look
Google Pixel Tablet on its charging dock.

Tablets are a dime-a-dozen these days, with offerings from all the great brands including Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and more. So, if you really want to stand out in a sea of similar tech, you need to do things a little differently. That's what Google's Pixel Tablet offers. How? It comes with a unique speaker dock that can be used to both charge the device and offer room-filling sound -- almost like a smart speaker add-on. Better yet, when your Pixel Tablet is docked it benefits from the Hub Mode, turning the device into a smart display, with digital photo frame support, smart home controls, and hands-free Google functionality. Of course, it could set you back at full price, normally $499 unless you find it included in a roundup of the best Google Pixel deals. Well, guess what? Thanks to a Best Buy Google Pixel Tablet deal, you can get it today for $439 and save $60. Hurry, though, it's part of Best Buy's recent 48-hour sale so it won't stick around for long.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel Tablet
Okay, okay, so in our Google Pixel Tablet review, Joe Maring did give it less than stellar remarks, but he called out its reliable fingerprint sensor, comfortability during use and excellent speaker dock. Honestly, how many tablets come with a matching speaker dock that transforms the entire experience? This tablet also marks a "lot of firsts" for Google, as it's the first tablet from the company in nearly five years, the first Android tablet in eight years, and can be converted into a smart home display with the speaker dock. All of which are notable milestones.
