Futuristic sunglass design meets wireless headset is the name of the game as Motorola and Oakley announced today the new RAZARWIRE sunglasses. This hot little gadget, set to debut through Cingular Wireless in early August for $294.99, allows users to communicate wirelessly to their cellphones through Bluetooth.
The RAZARWIRE, according to this press release, allows communication with Bluetooth equipped cell phones up to 30 feet away. It uses Motorola’s third generation Bluetooth technology and supports Bluetooth 1.2 and below. The Bluetooth module is built into the sunglasses in such a way to make it fit cleanly with the overall stylish look.
Controls are also integrated into the design, as is the charging port. The RAZARWIRE allows for five hours of talk time and standby time of up to 100 hours.
As far as Oakley sunglass technology goes, the RAZARWIRE offers up things like a light frame, spring hinges, increased grip, UV and blue light filtration and angle clarity. It will initally be available in three color frame/lens color combinations.
The RAZARWIRE expands Oakley’s growth into consumer electronics, joining the company’s THUMP MP3 player sunglasses.
