Early OnePlus Nord 2T unboxing video spills every last detail

A recent unboxing video posted to YouTube showcases the OnePlus Nord 2T in its entirety. The video details everything from the minutia of its technical specs to a demonstration of its camera to what fans can expect from taking the phone out of the box itself. The post is a curious piece of the Nord 2T puzzle because the phone hasn’t even been officially announced yet.

Because such little concrete information is known about the Nord 2T, the video, posted to YouTube by mobile tech reviewer Sahil Karoul, answers plenty of questions that fans have had about the smartphone. A lot of the rumors that have been circulating about the 2T were confirmed by the video. Although it isn’t in English, the technical specs appear on-screen as Karoul discusses them, providing a solid look at what fans can expect from the device.

The Nord 2T seems to have some pretty great specs for its rumored $400 price tag. According to the video, it’ll use the new Dimensity 1300 chipset, feature 8 to 12GB of RAM, and offer 128 to 256GB of internal storage.

In terms of its display, the video shows off the Nord 2T’s nearly bezel-less 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED screen that supports HDR10+ and has a resolution of 1080x2400p. The smartphone allows users to switch its refresh rate between 60 and 90Hz through settings.

Cameras are a huge selling point for smartphones and the Nord 2T seems to be delivering on that front as well. The front-facing “hole punch” camera is a 32-megapixel lens located towards the top left corner of the screen. The back of the phone features three cameras, one 8MP ultra-wide lens, one 2MP monochrome lens, and a 50MP lens to serve as the primary camera.

In addition to the phone, the Nord 2T package will include an 80-watt wall charger and an opaque gel case.

It’s a little curious that Karoul was able to get his hands on an unannounced product, especially one so hotly anticipated, but the unboxing video also gives fans the notion that an official announcement of the Nord 2T will be coming soon. It’s been predicted that a reveal would come sometime in May, with a release shortly following, so seeing the phone physically in someone’s hands has turned a lot of heads in OnePlus’ direction.

The OnePlus 10T is the right OnePlus phone at the wrong time
Back of the OnePlus 10T.

The OnePlus 10T is an oddly positioned smartphone, to say the least. It contradicts OnePlus' recent stride toward premium offerings with devices such as the OnePlus 9 Pro and the OnePlus 10 Pro. Instead, it appears to shoulder the same "never settle" spirit that OnePlus was once famous for, being geared toward users who demand unbeatable performance but who can compromise on the cosmetic or camera fronts.

While the OnePlus 10T offers top-of-the-line specifications, the 10T also accommodates some compromises for a more reasonable price. These shortcomings deflect it to the class of flagship killers, below the true flagships, which recent OnePlus numeric series phones have tended toward. All these changes stir up a sense that the company is trying to break through the image it has created in the last few years, especially since its readmission into camp Oppo.

How to pre-order the OnePlus 10T
Holding the OnePlus 10T in front of a green plant.

The OnePlus 10T, OnePlus' performance flagship for 2022, is here. Following weeks of endless leaks and rumors, OnePlus formally announced the phone on August 3. It did so in big fashion, hosting an extravagant launch event in New York City -- OnePlus's first in-person gathering in over two years. The big change this year, of course, is support for AT&T's 5G networks, which has now been turned on. You can't buy your OnePlus 10T directly from AT&T, but if you're looking to put your existing SIM in your new phone, rest assured that it'll work.

But while the OnePlus 10T was unveiled at the start of August, pre-orders didn't open until September 1. So that meant you had to wait. Thankfully, that waiting period is now over. Unfortunately, it does mean the start of a whole new waiting period since the phone won't be finally available until September 29. OnePlus is really making us wait for this phone, so just try not to get impatient.

OnePlus 10T pre-orders go live in the U.S., and with a big 5G fix
Back of the OnePlus 10T.

Hot off the heels of its Asian and European launches, the OnePlus 10T is finally coming to North America, and with one major upgrade: 5G support with AT&T. For the first time on a OnePlus device, the OnePlus 10T will be fully compatible with AT&T 5G and 4G LTE networks, compared to previous handsets that only had LTE support on AT&T.

While the specs of OnePlus devices have always been impressive, especially so with the 10T, their recent reliance on LTE and other slower connections for AT&T customers has made them somewhat difficult to recommend. Now that users are able to make the most of 5G internet speeds, however, the 10T is more enticing than before.
