OnePlus X ‘Powerfully Beautiful’ event scheduled for October 29

OnePlus has announced an event in London and Beijing on Oct. 29, with the tagline ‘Powerfully Beautiful’ and a large X in the middle of the invite.

We suspect this will be the launch venue for the OnePlus X, the company’s second smartphone for 2015. At an event in India, the company hinted the OnePlus X will be coming soon.

The OnePlus X will reportedly sport a 5-inch 1,920 x 1,080-pixel display. Other specs include a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of onboard storage, a 13-megapixel Sony camera, and a 2,450mAh battery. Like the OnePlus 2, the X will feature USB Type-C charging, but will also support NFC, unlike the more costly flagship. The phone will come with an IP67 certification, making it dustproof and water resistant.

A recent FCC filing showed LTE bands 1 – 8 added to the unnamed device, assumed to be either the OnePlus X or Mini. Having all eight bands would make the device compatible with Sprint, AT&T, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile USA.

We are still not sure whether the Mini and X are two different devices or two names for the same device. It would make sense for the Mini to be the X if the spec rumors are true, since it is a smaller and lower-spec smartphone. The X could also be a wearable, but we doubt OnePlus would host an event in London and Beijing to announce a fitness band or smartwatch. It did ask customers about wearables and smart home devices earlier in the year, but we haven’t heard much since then.

The OnePlus X will most likely not come with an invite system, and should be more commercially available. OnePlus has been ramping up production and working with Foxconn to secure up to 500,000 mobile shipments per month from its Indian factory.

OnePlus describes the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite as, “exuding a simple charm,” and in the world of folding smartphones and $1,500 iPhone models, there are probably a lot of people looking for a phone exactly like it.

If you’re new to the Nord series, these occupy the lower end of the market compared to the flagship OnePlus 11 and are released outside of the U.S., where instead the company releases phones like the OnePlus N300.

Buying a new smartphone is always a gamble in terms of customer satisfaction — mainly because they cost so much and can be so different from the device that the buyer is currently using.

To combat this, OnePlus is giving customers the chance to try the OnePlus 11 entirely risk-free. Starting today, the company is running the "100 Days No Regret" program, which allows OnePlus 11 buyers to use the new flagship for up to 100 days and still be eligible to return it for a full refund.

OnePlus just announced during its “From Fast & Smooth to Beyond” panel at MWC 2023 that it will be launching its first foldable smartphone this year. While OnePlus launched the OnePlus 11 earlier this month, it has revealed plans for its first foldable smartphone in the second half of 2023.

“Our first foldable phone will have the signature OnePlus fast and smooth experience. It must be a flagship phone that doesn’t settle because of its folding form, in terms of industrial design, mechanical technology, and other aspects. We want to launch a device that aims to be at the pinnacle experience of today’s foldable market.” said Kinder Liu, President, and COO of OnePlus, at the event.
