Pictures of the Droid 4 leak out

Is there anything more fun than seeing a picture of a yet unannounced cell phone? We don’t think so, which is why we are so excited about the freshly leaked picture of what is being called the Droid 4. Droid-Life not only was able to get a few pictures, but also some presumed specs, which we will of course take with a grain of salt.

The Droid 4 has gone through what looks to be a complete makeover, and it will not look like its older siblings. First you will see that the corners of the device are missing, much like the Photon or more recently the Droid RAZR. The famous Droid “chin” has also been removed, which is a design choice we can fully support. This will be the first Droid to have a screen the same size as the keyboard underneath. Like the Droid 3 the Droid 4 will have a full five row QWERTY keyboard, and it looks pretty great in the picture.

The big rumor with this phone is if it will be an 4G LTE device. That was one of our biggest issues with the Droid 3, so we sure hope that Motorola has upgraded the antenna in this Droid. We would like to think that whenever the next Droid phone is released that it will have LTE.

With that being said we have to wonder when is this phone going to come to market. The device in the pictures does not look like an early prototype, it looks like it is ready for production. We can see that there is already some Verizon bloatwear on the device, and there is even a tutorial sticker on the screen. The Droid 3 was launched in July, and it is a little hard to imagine Motorola releasing the Droid 4 so close to the last generation. That being said why would it wait to release what looks to be an amazing phone?

In considering 5G speed, there are few specifics to pin down. Instead, we prefer to think of 5G in its early stages as offering more of a speed range. That's because the actual speeds you get depend on what wireless network you're connecting to, your location and how busy it is, and the device you're using. This table gives you a rough idea of the maximum speeds of each generation of cellular network technology and the average speeds in the real world.

Honor pulls the Magic4 Pro out of its hat at MWC 2022

Honor’s Magic4 and Magic4 Pro smartphones are the company’s big flagship phones for 2022, and have been announced at Mobile World Congress, the industry trade show taking place in Barcelona, Spain, this week. These two phones are packed with camera technology, the latest Qualcomm processor, and Google Mobile Services, making them very exciting. We just hope the opportunity will come for global fans to actually buy one.
Price and availability
Honor hasn't provided a final release date or any indication of availability for the Magic4 Pro or Magic4, but it has said how much they will cost. The Magic4 Pro with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage space will be 1,099 euros which is around $1,227, and the Magic4 with the same memory specs will cost 899 euros, or about $1,005. Honor's only indication of when the Magic4 phones will be available is sometime between the end of March and the end of June this year.
Magic4 Pro
The Magic4 follows the Magic3 series announced by Honor in mid-2021, and despite it being called a global launch at the time, the devices have not made it out of China yet. Now it seems likely that the Magic3 will be quickly forgotten as Honor focuses on the Magic4, but the lack of final release details makes us a little concerned the same fate awaits it.

Let’s look at the devices in detail, starting with the Honor Magic4 Pro. Like the Magic3, it is styled using Honor’s distinctive "Eye of Muse" camera module design on the back, where four sensors surround the central main camera inside a circular housing, making it look a bit like an eye. There are three cameras in total, a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50MP 122-degree wide angle camera, and a 64MP periscope zoom camera with a 3.5x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. The array also has a time-of-flight sensor and a flicker sensor.

There have already been reports about Qualcomm mulling a price hike on its mobile chipsets, and production issues have hit even Apple.

Now Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek has raised prices on its mobile chipsets by 15%, according to a recent report. MediaTek, which draws most of its revenues from 5G and 4G mobile chipsets, has recently seen an uptick in demand as there has been a newfound acceptance of its 4G and 5G processors in the smartphone industry.
