Poros Tetra backpack carries and charges all your stuff

As a society, we are more connected than ever — our work, correspondence, relationships, and normal everyday activities can all be organized into our mobile devices. Though many of us are free to work and all of us are free to communicate anywhere in the world wirelessly, we are tethered by our batteries. As the charge indicator plummets, we are either frantically scrambling to find an outlet (and sometimes the charger itself) or we’re sitting on a dirty floor checking the percentage every few minutes.

Seattle-based Poros has been designing carry-all products that power your devices on the go, and its first backpack is its latest example of form and function. The Tetra by Poros is built to adapt to a wandering lifestyle, seamlessly charging your phone, tablet, and USB-C laptop.

Poros recently launched an Indiegogo page for the Tetra, where the early birds could get the $215 bag for as low as $100. “Mobile devices … do great things for us, from keeping us connected, to ordering a ride, but the reality is they do have a downside when it comes to their need for charging,” says Poros founder John Borofka. ” … We set out to change this by building a bag from the ground up that meets users’ power needs without having to ever worry about charging, packaged in a stylish bag that users are proud to have on their back.”

The durable Tetra features ballistic nylon construction and all-metal hardware. Despite a slim profile, it has room for your laptop (a sleeve accommodates laptops up to 15 inches), tablet, and books. You can leave your cables and plugs behind, as the bag comes with fully integrated connectors. Its built-in 10,000mAh lithium polymer battery can deliver from three to six complete smartphone charges at a rate of 2.1 amps.

The Tetra supports the latest USB-C connections, which can be found in the new MacBook and Chromebook Pixel. It effectively doubles the battery life of the MacBook. Charging is activated with a touch of a button. A full LED display indicates battery status and charge rate.

The Tetra weighs just half a pound, and can charge two devices at once. The first connection is a standard USB-type, and for the second you can choose between an Apple Lightning or Micro USB. All Poros bags are TSA approved for carry-on and checked luggage.

The Tetra is expected to ship in March 2016. For more information, visit the Poros official site.

I record interviews for work. These are my favorite free recorder apps

Before you head to the app store on your phone to buy a voice-recording app, take a moment to consider the apps that may already be installed on your phone. Why? In my experience, they're likely all you really need. I’ve recorded interviews and voice-overs for work for years, and I’ve found the two best examples come preinstalled on your phone already, so they’re entirely free to use.

Two Galaxy Z Fold 5 phones next to each other -- one is open and one is closed.

Samsung’s next-generation foldable is here with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5. This iteration has some notable improvements, including a new hinge design that eliminates the gap from previous generations when the device was folded. You also get a 6.2-inch HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display on the outside while having a 6.7-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display on the inside, with both screens having a 120Hz refresh rate. Google Pixel Tablet just got its first big discount and it’s worth a look
Google Pixel Tablet on its charging dock.

Tablets are a dime-a-dozen these days, with offerings from all the great brands including Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and more. So, if you really want to stand out in a sea of similar tech, you need to do things a little differently. That's what Google's Pixel Tablet offers. How? It comes with a unique speaker dock that can be used to both charge the device and offer room-filling sound -- almost like a smart speaker add-on. Better yet, when your Pixel Tablet is docked it benefits from the Hub Mode, turning the device into a smart display, with digital photo frame support, smart home controls, and hands-free Google functionality. Of course, it could set you back at full price, normally $499 unless you find it included in a roundup of the best Google Pixel deals. Well, guess what? Thanks to a Best Buy Google Pixel Tablet deal, you can get it today for $439 and save $60. Hurry, though, it's part of Best Buy's recent 48-hour sale so it won't stick around for long.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel Tablet
Okay, okay, so in our Google Pixel Tablet review, Joe Maring did give it less than stellar remarks, but he called out its reliable fingerprint sensor, comfortability during use and excellent speaker dock. Honestly, how many tablets come with a matching speaker dock that transforms the entire experience? This tablet also marks a "lot of firsts" for Google, as it's the first tablet from the company in nearly five years, the first Android tablet in eight years, and can be converted into a smart home display with the speaker dock. All of which are notable milestones.
