Everything we think we know about iOS 7 could be wrong, according to inside source

iOS 7 LogoThis year’s Apple Worldwide Developer Conference is just hours away from starting, and while we think we’ve got a handle on what the company has planned for iOS 7, known Apple commentator John Gruber has thrown a curveball; or at least, one of his sources has. Speaking on The Talk Show podcast and first reported by The Tech Block, Gruber said, “I heard from somebody that, ‘all the leaks are wrong,’ and that’s interesting. I have no idea what to make of it.”

This came after the well-connected Gruber admitted that this year, he’s as in the dark about Apple’s plans as everyone else, saying, “I don’t think I’ve been this ignorant of what’s coming, software-wise, for a keynote since the iPhone 1,” but added this was, “great,” and that he’s, “super excited” about WWDC.

Gruber’s sources have been whispering in his ear though, and he has been told Apple will show some “polarizing” innovations. While we can’t imagine the rumored iRadio streaming music service will be so, the much vaunted iOS redesign – with the help of Jony Ive – could take a different direction to previous versions of the mobile OS.

However, the only clues we have on iOS 7’s look is from a series of leaks, and now, if Gruber’s source is correct, there’s a chance all that is misinformation. Or, could Gruber’s information be the misinformation, and we’re going to get exactly what we expect from iOS 7? Or, it could all be misinformation, as nobody except Apple knows what’s really going on. Regardless, it seems we should prepare ourselves for the unexpected later on today.

Thankfully, we’ve not got long to go until everything is revealed. Apple’s WWDC 2013 keynote presentation starts at 10:00am local time in San Francisco, and we’ll bring you all the news as it happens. In the meantime, you can read up on the WWDC rumors including iOS 7, OS X 10.9, a new Mac Pro, and iRadio. Just be aware it could all change at the last minute. Gruber’s right too, that does make it exciting.

Journal app for iOS 17.

Apple is adding a new first-party app called Journal with the introduction of iOS 17, the company announced today during WWDC 2023. Apple has continued to lean into its first-party health and wellness iOS apps with things like Fitness, Sleep, and Breathe, and now Journal will be joining their ranks as the company's first attempt at an app that focuses on mental well-being.
