We may be very close to the first Samsung phone with 6GB of RAM inside being announced. The Galaxy C9 is rumored as coming soon, and may up the memory count to that of the OnePlus 3. That’s right, even the Samsung Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, and the massive (and a bit explodey) Galaxy Note 7 have 4GB of RAM inside.

Specification

Samsung’s C-series of smartphones are usually sold in China, but are often similar to the A-series which are sold further afield. Early rumors showed the C9 being similar to the Samsung Galaxy A9, a 6-inch smartphone released at the beginning of 2016, with a Snapdragon 652 processor and 3GB of RAM inside. Subsequently, a Galaxy A9 Pro was released with 4GB of RAM, and other specification improvements.

A set of benchmark results discovered through Geekbench potentially reveal the Galaxy C9 will share the A9’s 6-inch screen and Snapdragon 652 processor, but double the RAM to 6GB. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is also listed on the test results.

However, benchmark results aren’t always the most reliable sources of information, and can be faked. Previously, the C9 has been leaked with a 5.7-inch screen, matching the Galaxy Note 7, indicating there may be other versions of the phone being tested. On the subject of the Galaxy Note 7, rumors also put this down as Samsung’s first phone with 6GB of RAM, before it launched with 4GB. The Galaxy C9 may suffer the same fate before it’s officially announced.

Announcement and release

When will Samsung reveal the Galaxy C9? According to a rumor circulated in mid-September Samsung will show the new phone during the course of October or November, meaning we may not be far away from its announcement. While the C9 is likely to be released in China, if it does come with 6GB of RAM inside, the phone may pave the way for other internationally-sold Samsung phones to do the same in the near future.

OnePlus 9 vs. Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: What’s the best value phone?
oneplus 9 vs samsung galaxy s20fe s20 fe

OnePlus is facing more competition than ever. In previous years, the company has offered phones with near-flagship specs for a few hundred dollars cheaper than the competition. Last year, however, Samsung launched the $700 Galaxy S20 FE -- a device that borrowed the best things about the Galaxy S20, but came in at a much lower price. Considering that it now often costs just $600, and that the OnePlus 9 comes at $730, the OnePlus 9 has an uphill battle ahead of it in this war between value phones.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE may be aging a little, but Samsung still sells it -- meaning you might be wondering which device you should buy. I've used and reviewed both phones. Here are my thoughts.
Design and display
The Galaxy S21 may have a radical and unique new design, but the Galaxy S20 FE sticks to many of the design elements that you would expect from a 2020 phone. It's not the most exciting-looking device -- and it's definitely not ugly, but it feels like every flagship phone last year came with a rectangular camera bump at the top left and a hole-punch cutout on the display.

Apple Watch Series 6 vs. Samsung Galaxy Watch 3
Apple Watch 6 fitness

The Apple Watch Series 6 is here, and it shows Apple is taking an even greater focus on personal health with their best smartwatch. It introduces a new blood oxygen level sensor that can measure your O2 levels even while you sleep, as well as an always-on altimeter for the hikers among us. Combined with a brighter always-on display and quirky new watch faces, it goes one step further than the Series 5 in offering a comprehensive health-and-fitness tracker that doubles as a very usable smartwatch.

It's not the only new smartwatch in town, however. Samsung released its Galaxy Watch 3 in August, and it's every bit as good as you'd expect a smartwatch from Samsung to be. It takes a more classical watch approach to its design, while adding a nifty rotating bezel that makes using its features as effortless as possible.

samsung galaxy tab s6 lite news

Samsung is beefing up its tablet offerings. The company has quietly announced the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, which is a stripped-down, cheaper version of Galaxy Tab S6. The new tablet offers decent specs, a 10.4-inch display, and more -- though there's no official pricing for the tablet just yet.

Some of the official specifications for the device also have yet to be revealed. Samsung lists the tablet as having a an "octa-core" processor with clock speeds of 2.3GHz and 1.7GHz. As Ars Technica notes, it's likely that the chip is the Samsung Exynos 9611, considering that the specs match and the Exynos 9611 was listed for the tablet in a Geekbench test.
