Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 is coming to T-Mobile

T-Mobile is adding yet another Samsung tablet to its operation “Tablet Freedom.” The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will soon arrive at T-Mobile for $0 down on the Uncarrier’s Simple Choice plan. The mid-range device offers decent specs and reliable performance, for less than the cost of many of Samsung’s high-end tablets.

The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 features an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, which may not be quite as luminous and flawless as the Super AMOLED screens on the brand-new Galaxy Tab S lineup, but is good enough for most 8-inch tablet users. The Tab 4 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 1.5GB of RAM. The tablet comes with 16GB of built-in storage, but offers a MicroSD card slot for expansion up to 64GB, which is more than enough for casual use.

The Tab 4 8.0 offers multi-windows functionality and multi-user mode. The tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat, too, so you don’t have to worry about having an old OS onboard. It also has a 3-megapixel back camera and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls and selfies. According to Samsung, the Tab 4 8.0’s 4450mAh battery should last you through a good 12 hours of Internet browsing.

T-Mobile says it’s the perfect tablet for families with kids who enjoy watching TV shows and movies when they’re on the go. It may not be the cheapest tablet, but Samsung’s mid-range devices are known for their quality in comparison with cheap, $100-$200 tablets. However, if you’re looking for a high-end device, you might want to hold out for the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 or 8.4.

The Tab 4 8.0 is available for $0 down on T-Mobile’s Simple Choice plan. After 24 monthly payments of $16, you’ll own the tablet. T-Mobile users will also get 1.2GB of LTE data each month for free until the end of 2014. After that, the Uncarrier will offer 200MB of free data every month as long as you have the tablet. The Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 will be available for pre-order online starting July 16 and in stores July 23.

Why you should buy the Samsung Galaxy TabActive4 Pro
Samsung is one of the most well known names in electronic devices. When it comes to tablets, its top competition is the Apple iPad, though even the best iPads aren’t particularly known for their ruggedness. This is where a tablet like the Samsung Galaxy TabActive4 Pro makes a name for itself. While a Samsung model like the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra may be the king of Samsung’s tablet lineup, the TabActive4 Pro is the tablet you should consider if you find yourself putting your electronics through their physical paces often. The durable design of the TabActive4 Pro includes defense against extreme hot and cold temperatures, drops, spills, and an IP68 rating that stands up to dust and water.

A Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 on top of a Google Pixel Fold, showing the cameras on both phones.

Google has finally entered the foldable market with the Google Pixel Fold. It provides a great stock Android experience, direct from Google, that’s powered by the impressive Tensor G2 chip with 12GB of RAM and your choice of 256GB or 512GB storage. One of the best things about any Google Pixel device is the camera. It’s hard to take a bad photo with a Google Pixel, and that includes the Pixel Fold.

The one major competitor for Google’s Pixel Fold right now, at least in the U.S., is the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Samsung’s foldable packs in Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. And that's all joined by some mighty impressive camera hardware.
