Samsung hits the refresh button on its Galaxy Tab S2 buttons — in Germany

Originally announced last July, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 currently stand as the company’s flagship tablets. Now, almost a full year later, both devices received a refresh, but probably not the one you were expecting, reports SamMobile.

For the most part, the refreshed Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 remain the same. In other words, they retain the 2,048 x 1,536 resolution Super AMOLED displays that we fell in love with. They also include the same 8-megapixel rear camera, 2.1MP front camera, 3GB of RAM, fingerprint sensor, Micro SD card slot, and 32GB of native storage.

Where the differences present themselves are in the processor and operating system. Previously, the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 were powered by the Exynos 5433 chipset, Samsung’s own in-house processor. However, the refreshed variants are now powered by the 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor. In short, overall performance looks to be improved on the new Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 when compared to their predecessors, though game performance might take a small hit.

In addition, the refreshed tablets run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box, while the older models still run the quickly aging Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. However, they are slated for an update to Marshmallow sometime in the near future, though Samsung didn’t provide specifics.

Taken altogether, the refreshed Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.7 will likely not dissuade anyone with the previous versions to pick them up. However, and most importantly, these refreshed variants show that Samsung is likely close to announcing their true successors in the near future. For now, the refreshed tablets are currently available for purchase in Germany, with prices ranging from $513 to $627, depending on whether you want LTE or not and whether you want the 8-inch or 9.7-inch version.

We’ve reached out to Samsung to see if the tablets will make their way stateside and will update with any new information.

Galaxy S22 Ultra with S22 Plus and S22.

The Galaxy S22 series, especially the Galaxy S22 Ultra, still features some great phones. But to get one now that the Galaxy S23 series is out, you would probably have to settle for a used one, and with that comes some uncertainty.

Samsung has the solution, as the entire Galaxy S22 series of phones has entered its official Certified Re-Newed program, and at lower prices than you would have originally paid.

Samsung Galaxy S23 vs. Galaxy S21 camera test: is it really any better?
Samsung Galaxy S23 in Cream and a S21 in Phantom Violet

Samsung’s latest flagship, the Galaxy S23, has arrived. While the top of the line S23 Ultra has a 200MP camera sensor, the 50MP main camera on the S23 and S23 Plus is nothing to scoff at. The entire S23 series also has the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chipset, long-lasting battery life, and beautiful displays.

Though we’ve been enjoying the S23 so far, it’s definitely more of an iterative upgrade if you’re coming from a Galaxy S22. But what if you’re still using a Galaxy S21? Is the S23 worth upgrading to for better photos?

Galaxy Tab S9+ leaked images

Samsung’s existing slate of Android tablets is one of the finest hardware of its kind, and it appears that the company doesn’t want to stray from the winning formula any time soon. Leaker @OnLeaks has shared renders of the Galaxy S9 Plus, and they bear a striking similarity to its Galaxy Tab S8 series predecessor.

The sleek metallic build with sharp edges is here to stay, and so is the contrasting magnetic strip at the back. The bezel size also remains familiar, while the horizontally positioned selfie camera is once again positioned at the same spot.
