Don’t fancy the iPhone 6? You can lease the Galaxy S5 on Sprint, instead

When Sprint launched its smartphone leasing program last month, the only handsets customers could choose from were the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Eventually, Sprint threw in the iPhone 5S for good measure, but what about those who want to lease an Android handset? Apparently, Sprint heard those pleas because it has extended its leasing program to include the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport.

For $20 a month, Sprint customers can get the 16GB variants of both handsets. Existing qualified customers receive a $15 credit each month through January, bringing the payments to just $5 a month. However, the program works a little differently for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Sport, which require an Unlimited My Way, My All-In, Simply Everything, or Everything Data shared plan. By comparison, the iPhone for Life program requires the $50 unlimited text, call, and data plan.

In addition, the rent period last for two years, after which you can either buy the leased phone, return it and get a new one, or quit the service. While the rent period for iPhone for Life is the same length of time, Sprint introduced a new option that decreases the upgrade wait time to just one year. Of course, Sprint may end up doing the same thing for the Galaxy phones.

The lease program for the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Sport launches today, so at the very least, customers have two more options to pick from.

The Apple iPhone SE (2022) is the iPhone for those who don’t need fancy bells and whistles. Heck, it still has a home button, which Apple abandoned the moment it moved on to Face ID. All things considered, it’s a good size for those who prefer not to have gigantic phones.
