Music Unlimited is MetroPCS’ version of T-Mobile Music Freedom. It lets you stream music without using your mobile data. More than 30 streaming services are taking part, including Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, iHeartRadio, and Google Play Music. Music Unlimited will work on $40, $50, and $60 MetroPCS unlimited plans.
Data Maximizer is part of T-Mobile Binge On program, but MetroPCS customers will not receive unlimited video streaming. Instead, the network optimization for video will be added to MetroPCS, offering three times more video at DVD quality. Data Maximizer will be available on all MetroPCS plans.
MetroPCS is making some upgrades to its single line plans, on top of the new features. The $40 single line plan will include 3GB of 4G LTE data, up from 2GB. The $50 single line plan will include 5GB of 4G LTE data, up from 4GB. The $60 single line plan will include an 8GB 4G LTE hotspot, up from 6GB.
These are all nice changes that should draw more customers in that don’t want to spend too much on a mobile contract. For people that have a Spotify or Apple Music membership, the update should allow them to go for a lower price contract and still be able to listen to music on the way to work, without worrying about additional costs.
MetroPCS is still missing the big update announced at T-Mobile’s Un-Carrier X event, unlimited video streaming. Binge On has HBO Now, Sling TV, Hulu, Netflix, and a few more video streaming services on board, which should allow customers to watch endless amounts of video without worrying about going over their mobile plan limits. MetroPCS has not commented on when it will add Binge On to its plans.
