The Urban Signals App Brings Love to Your Neighborhood

urban-signalsUrban Signals just took online dating to a whole new level. The Urban Signals app is a social networking, location-based mobile application that allows you to see people around you, if they’re available, interested and ready to meet up. Since Urban Signals app is a service based in real-time, you can even meet up with someone right that very moment—or you could be standing next to the readily available person of your dreams at that very moment.  It’s kind of creepy, but we like it.

“Urban Signals began as an observation I continued to witness on New York’s city streets…the problem of missed connections,“ said Aubree Nichols, founder and CEO of Urban Signals. “I didn’t know what the answer was, but I knew it would have to break down that ‘urban armor’ that discourage singles from approaching someone they found attractive or intriguing.“

How Halide Process Zero changed my iPhone camera forever
Using Halide Process Zero Camera on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

How much AI is too much AI in pictures? Would you rather have your photos have some grain or have everything look sharpened with bright colors? Do you like what your eyes actually saw or the color-boosted eye-pleasing material appearing on your phone’s screen?

Here is an example. Take a look at the color of the sky. Now look at how the iPhone’s camera perceives it, with all the computation algorithms and signature color tone applied. It’s brazen how vastly different the real versus iPhone color chemistry is. If you go to Reddit and Apple’s Discussions forum, you will run into more contrarian views about the right approach to smartphone photography than there are theories about alien life.

I have a love-hate relationship with the iPhone 16 Pro Max
iPhone 16 Pro Max in Desert Titanium.

Apple just launched the iPhone 16 line, and it’s been quite an upgrade this year. Though the base models got some nice updates, like the A18 chip and some of the best colors I’ve seen from Apple in years, I’m still all about the Pro models. Once you go with 1TB storage and 120Hz ProMotion displays, it’s hard to go back.

This year, things are a little different. Ever since Apple introduced a Pro model, I’ve always gone for the smaller variant. After one year with a Plus model phone, I learned that I simply don’t care for large phones, so I never tried out a Pro Max. I’ve always just gawked at how humongous the size is, and this year, Apple went ahead and made it even bigger with a 6.9-inch display instead of 6.7 inches.
