If you thought the concept of porn sites having ‘Like’ buttons on their websites to be somewhat of a bad idea, you’re not going to want to hear about BlackBerry 10 and its hyperactive sharing habits.
Apparently, because we are all in love of the idea of instant media sharing, BlackBerry’s new BB10 software integrates the built-in media player with BlackBerry Messenger, meaning it will push out updates whenever you watch a new video clip or view a new photo. The built-in media player obviously works with local video files and websites like YouTube, but apparently will also share with your friends if you choose to stop by PornHub or any one of the many porn sites out there. In other words, your new BlackBerry Z10 is going to share everything you watch, whether you know it or not.
If you didn’t even know about this feature already, it works through the holistic integration that the new BlackBerry OS 10 offers between its various apps, and the fact that the new BBM wants to share everything you do with your friends and family through status updates. If you feel this is a little overkill, then you can still disable this feature in the meantime, though there is no blacklist or whitelist system to block or allow sharing of certain website content. It really comes down to how essential you find this feature of BB10.
If you still want this rather creepy aspect of BB10, and like the idea of your phone sharing updates with the world when you open up your favorite clips or video websites (provocative or not,) just remember this fun little feature is packed into your device.
And if you’re really paranoid about your friends finding out, just rename the clips you watch to something more inconspicious, like “How-to-file-taxes.avi,” or something along those lines. Not that we’re telling you how to hide your porn. That would be inappropriate.
