T-Mobile’s John Legere says it’s time to deck the halls with Un-carrier spirit

AT&T, and Verizon customers, the T-Mobile CEO released two videos this week wishing everyone a happy holiday. Dissing the competition is what Legere does best, so it can’t be a surprise that he took the time to do that as well.

The first video has Legere leading a chorus of popular holiday songs, only the words have been changed slightly. Okay, they were changed dramatically. Jingle Bells has been changed to Sprint Like Hell and Santa Claus is Coming to Town is now The Un-carrier is Coming to Town. You will also hear newer versions of The Little Drummer Boy and Deck the Halls.

Also, you can share the video via Twitter for a chance to win a cool prize from T-Mobile, if you use the #10DaysUncarrierContest hashtag. T-Mobile will pick one winner each day from December 14 through December 23 for various prizes like smartphones, chargers, Bluetooth speakers, smartwatches, and more.

Legere followed up with yet another video today thanking customers for a fantastic year. This video show him baking cookies frosted with the un-carrier deals that T-Mobile cooked up during the year. Legere reminds us that T-Mobile is the fastest growing wireless carrier, has the fastest 4G LTE network, is on the top of JD Power’s care list, and ranked number one with Consumer Reports.

Or course, Legere noted that none of this could be achieved without the best customers in the world. More than 28 million new customers joined T-Mobile since the Un-carrier program started.

Wait a minute, didn’t Legere have anything to say about the other carriers? Of course he did. Legere took the time to bake a few special cookies for AT&T and Verizon. He promised to send AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson and Verizon CEO and chairman Lowell McAdam a few. We’re sure they can’t wait.

T-Mobile hacker lambastes carrier’s security measures

As T-Mobile continues to investigate a massive data breach that took place earlier this month, a person claiming to have conducted the attack has described the carrier’s security as “awful.”

Going by the name “John Binns,” the hacker, apparently a 21-year-old American who moved to Turkey several years ago, contacted the Wall Street Journal via messaging app Telegram and discussed details of the attack before it became widely known.

T-Mobile says 48 million people are affected by recent cyberattack

UPDATE: T-Mobile said on August 20 that its investigations have revealed that an additional 5.3 million customers are affected by the attack, along with another 667,000 former customers, bringing the total number affected to about 54 million.

T-Mobile has released more details regarding what it's describing as a “highly sophisticated cyberattack” on its computer systems that it learned of last week.
