Cornell University research finds life could exist on Saturn’s moon Titan

Saturn-And-Titan-0001

Despite its seemingly inhospitable climate, life could exist on Saturn’s moon Titan, according to research by scientists at Cornell University. With an average temperature of -290 F, Titan has plenty of water ice but hardly any water vapor, due to water’s very low vapor pressure. That means any life that might exist would have to be non-water based — that is, unlike any life on Earth.

Yes, it’s possible to plant ‘Inception’-style experiences into people’s brains

BrainImageDARPA1

Think Chris Nolan’s 2010 blockbuster Inception was total science fiction? Think again. At least, that’s one conclusion we can draw from newly published research which demonstrated that it is possible to plant simple subliminal messages in people’s minds without their knowledge. In the experiment, subjects lying in an fMRI machine were subconsciously trained to see the color red when they were shown pictures of black and white stripes over a period of several days.

iOS 16.3.1 fixes major bugs for your iPhone — and introduces a new one
Lock screen widget for iOS 16.

Apple just released a new iOS update for your iPhone: iOS 16.3.1. There are also updates for iPadOS 16.3.1 and macOS 13.2.1. All of these are relatively minor updates, but they do patch up an actively exploited code execution vulnerability that was found in WebKit/Safari. A second vulnerability was also patched up, though this second one was not known to be actively exploited.

But that’s not all that iOS 16.3.1 brings. This update also fixes an issue with iCloud settings, where it became unresponsive. Another bug fix corrects an issue with using Siri with the Find My feature, where the request would end up failing. If you have a HomePod, there is a HomePod 16.3.2 OS update that will also resolve some Siri issues, where smart home requests would end up failing.

The iPhone 15 Pro’s rumored new design is one I can’t wait for
The volume keys on the side of the iPhone 14 Plus.

Apple moved to a throwback design with flat edges for the iPhone 12 lineup, and that trend continues to date with the iPhone 14 series. All models of the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, and iPhone 14 have had the same flat edges covering the phones. But if a new rumor is to be believed, things could change with the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max.

According to a leaker who goes by ShrimpApplePro, the iPhone 15 Pro lineup could have thinner bezels and curved edges. Both the design features could combine to give the phones an "Apple Watch-like look." And you know what? I'm all for it.

In an unusually upfront admission, Apple said on Sunday that customers planning to buy an iPhone 14 Pro or iPhone 14 Pro Max face longer wait times for their order due to COVID-19 restrictions impacting one of its key assembly facilities in China.

In a message on its website, Apple said that COVID precautions at its primary, Foxconn-run iPhone assembly plant in Zhengzhou, China, have led to “significantly reduced capacity.”
