Gemstar-TV Guide International and mobile services company Handmark yesterday announced a new software application for Palm and Windows Mobile-based portable devices which provides updated television listings and content. The TV Guide Mobile service is available for download for $29.99 per year.
The TV Guide Mobile service, the two companies said, provides consumers of Palm and Windows Mobile-based smartphones and PDAs with TV Guide related content and personalized tools to help customize their experience. Features of this new service include instant access to daily local TV listings, the ability to search databases which provide movie reviews and information on various television shows and their episodes, customization options to receive only information on favorite channels, shows or celebrities and the latest news, gossip and commentary from Hollywood.
“We’re excited to make TV Guide Mobile available for these smartphone platforms through Handmark, a premier innovator in mobile media,” said Richard Cusick, senior vice president and general manager of Digital Media at Gemstar-TV Guide. “This is one of several initiatives in the mobile space that Gemstar-TV Guide is pursuing. Mobile is a key area for the company and one that we are prioritizing across all of our products, services and partnerships.”
