The new update comes a day after Vine landed on the Apple Watch. As of right now, the update is only available on iOS, but the company says the feature will be available for Android in the coming weeks.
Vine was also updated last Friday to include notifications when users comment or Revine a video you’ve Revined. Of course, users still have the ability to search for people or hashtags, but now they can see Vines from the search results page.
Back in 2012, Vine was founded by Dom Hofmann, Rus Yusupov, and Colin Kroll. Vine was then acquired by Twitter for a reported $30 million. Five months after launching on iPhone, Twitter released Vine for Android. Twitter also revealed that Vine had attracted 13 million users, but did not say whether they were monthly active users or all registered users.
“Vine for Android has many of the features that more than 13 million people have grown to love: easy video creation with automatic playback and sound; Explore, where you can discover popular posts and see what’s trending; and Find Friends, where you can find and invite people you know to join,” explained Android engineer Sara Haider.
Back in January 2015, Vine launched Vine Kids, an app that offers video loops for children. The app includes interactive features so children can swipe to see new videos and hear various sounds. However, the Vine Kids is only available for iOS.
