Wacom is finally bringing its popular iPad drawing app Bamboo Paper to Android and Windows 8. Most of the best drawing apps such as Paper from FiftyThree and Bamboo Paper from Wacom were previously only available on iOS, but popular demand has brought Wacom’s app out of its shell.

Bamboo Paper is now available to those with tablets running Android and Kindle Fire OS, as well as Windows 8 tablets, desktops, or laptops. Just like FiftyThree’s Paper, the Bamboo Paper app offers users a series of notebooks for all your needs. You can sketch in one, write notes in another, and paint digital masterpieces in a third. It also offers in-app purchases of drawing tools, fancy notebooks, and brushes.

Ordinarily, these in-app purchases rack up quickly and turn the free app into an expensive one. However, in honor of its expansion to new platforms, Wacom is offering the premium tool sets, brushes and notebooks for free when you download the drawing and note-taking app. Normally, these tools are quite expensive, so if you’re interested in really trying the app out, it’s best to download all those brushes while you still can.

Wacom also mentioned that it’s working on a specific computer language that will ensure that the app works the same way on all three platforms regardless of the operating system’s capabilities. The company calls this project WILL a.k.a the Wacom Ink Layer Language. WILL should also make it easier to share notebooks, drawings, and other creations between devices that are running on different platforms. That way, you can start jotting down a few notes on your iPad and then move to your Windows 8 laptop or desktop PC.

Although Bamboo Paper works with most styli, Wacom recommends its own series of styli for best results. The app is already available for download on the Google Play Store, Amazon Appstore, and the Windows Store.

After 9 years on Android and Windows, here’s why I’m all-in on Apple’s ecosystem

With product launches happening around us year-round, we seldom take a step back and talk about “experience.” Not just the experience of using a particular device, but also how well it works with your other gadgets like your laptop and tablet. It's this ecosystem experience that all companies try to achieve, but not all succeed equally well at it. For nine years, I've exclusively been a Windows and Android user, but something changed over the past year -- I switched to the MacBook and iPhone.

Not just that, I'm fortunate enough to own four Apple devices: The iPhone 12, Apple Watch SE, iPad Air 4, and MacBook Air. These four devices work so seamlessly with one another that they blend into both my work life and personal life. Here’s why I, and many like me, love the Apple ecosystem.
