Zepp Labs partners with PGA and MLB pros to improve your swing

The quest for the perfect swing never ends. Zepp Labs first made its mark with a small and powerful sensor that tracks your swing and sends all the pertinent data to the Zepp app for analysis. The company recently revamped the entire app, adding video analysis of swings, free video content, and data from Major League baseball players and golfers from the PGA Tour. Now you can pit your swing up against baseball star David Ortiz, golfer Keegan Bradley, and others.

Baseball-Capture

The new versions of the Zepp Baseball and Zepp Golf apps let you watch the pros swing from any angle, check out all the data collected by the Zepp sensor worn by the player, and even use the split screen feature to compare the pro’s video or data to your own. That way, you can see exactly how you compare with the pros and learn how to correct your swing to achieve better results.

Recommended Videos

The 3D model shows every step of the swing from start to finish and you can rotate the figure 360 degrees to catch every angle of the move. The videos are shot from multiple angles, so as to provide a similar experience. Every pro player in the app’s catalog has his or her own library of videos, 3D models, and swing data. The app also lets you record videos of your swings, so you can compare your footage to that of the pros, in addition to the raw data obtained from you Zepp sensor.

Players at any level can use the app as a training tool. Zepp Labs told us that even the pros are using the app to improve their swings. Coaches also use the data to analyze their players’ performance and pinpoint areas for improvement — even the pros need fine tuning now and then.

One of Zepp’s players, Mike Trout from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, said in a statement that Zepp’s data is truly an invaluable tool.

“When I was growing up I tried to develop my hitting style watching video of Derek Jeter. But I was just swinging, I didn’t know if I was doing something right or wrong. But now, using Zepp, young players are going to be able to accelerate their learning so much faster. I wish I had Zepp Baseball when I was a kid.”

The updated app is available for free on the iOS App Store and Google Play Store for Android. You can view the videos and all the other content in the apps. The Zepp sensor is available on the company’s website for $150.

I record interviews for work. These are my favorite free recorder apps

Before you head to the app store on your phone to buy a voice-recording app, take a moment to consider the apps that may already be installed on your phone. Why? In my experience, they're likely all you really need. I’ve recorded interviews and voice-overs for work for years, and I’ve found the two best examples come preinstalled on your phone already, so they’re entirely free to use.

Google Pixel Tablet just got its first big discount and it’s worth a look
Google Pixel Tablet on its charging dock.

Tablets are a dime-a-dozen these days, with offerings from all the great brands including Apple, Samsung, Lenovo, and more. So, if you really want to stand out in a sea of similar tech, you need to do things a little differently. That's what Google's Pixel Tablet offers. How? It comes with a unique speaker dock that can be used to both charge the device and offer room-filling sound -- almost like a smart speaker add-on. Better yet, when your Pixel Tablet is docked it benefits from the Hub Mode, turning the device into a smart display, with digital photo frame support, smart home controls, and hands-free Google functionality. Of course, it could set you back at full price, normally $499 unless you find it included in a roundup of the best Google Pixel deals. Well, guess what? Thanks to a Best Buy Google Pixel Tablet deal, you can get it today for $439 and save $60. Hurry, though, it's part of Best Buy's recent 48-hour sale so it won't stick around for long.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel Tablet
Okay, okay, so in our Google Pixel Tablet review, Joe Maring did give it less than stellar remarks, but he called out its reliable fingerprint sensor, comfortability during use and excellent speaker dock. Honestly, how many tablets come with a matching speaker dock that transforms the entire experience? This tablet also marks a "lot of firsts" for Google, as it's the first tablet from the company in nearly five years, the first Android tablet in eight years, and can be converted into a smart home display with the speaker dock. All of which are notable milestones.
