Orange is the New Black Season 3
It’s been a year since we were last in Litchfield Penitentiary with the crew of inmates and guards that make up the cast of Orange is the New Black. Looking back through the first two seasons of the show, it’s amazing to remember exactly how far the characters have come since Taylor Chapman first checked into the correctional facility. We’ve seen love and heartbreak, death and life, changing staff and reassigned inmates, and plenty more in between.
Heading into Season 3, expectations are high. Season 2, much like the first run of episodes, left us with plenty of satisfaction, but even more questions that require resolving. There’s a new administration in Litchfield, major changes to the internal power struggle of the inmates, and plenty of uncertainty. We know the always controversial Alex Vause will make a return, which is sure to muck up Taylor’s feelings further. What else is in store? You’ll find out when you binge watch through the show, as soon it as drops.
Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2
Given the sheer size and scope of the Marvel cinematic universe, it’s amazing just how good all of the company’s content has been. Even more surprising, perhaps, is just how good the ABC thriller Agents of S.H.I.E.D. has become. After a slow start to the show’s first year, Season 2 kicks things up a couple notches and turns the drama/thriller into a must-watch for any fan of the comics and surrounding franchises. It ties in effortlessly to the larger Marvel world, while holding up on its own merit.
Nightcrawler
In the city of Los Angeles, reporting on crime is a competitive field. Lou Bloom (played by Jake Gyllenhaal) is new to the profession and starts to make a name for himself. He crashes a crime scene with a pawned camera and captures the gruesome scene of a car crash. As a freelance reporter, he builds a crew for nightcrawling — chasing crime scenes to fulfill the lust for violence that viewers want. The film is chilling and challenging, full of thrills and fantastic performances.
Life of Crime
Get-rich-quick schemes almost never work. Ordell Robbie and Louis Gara have a particularly bad one lined up, as they try to kidnap socialite Mickey Dawson (played by Jennifer Aniston), only to find her husband isn’t interested in paying the ransom to get her back. His denial results in a panic that sets off a sequence of events that spirals further and further out of control, as the bumbling cons try to figure out how to salvage the situation.
Rosewater
Jon Stewart is best known for skewering the news, not making it. But after the Daily Show reporter Jason Jones visited Iran and spoke to Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari, the segment became fodder for the government to lock up Bahari. Stewart, suddenly at the heart of the story, took the opportunity to turn the journalist’s book into a film. In his directorial debut, Stewart tells the story of how Bahari landed in prison on treason charges and the torture he endured under the thumb of the Iranian government.
