Amazon is premiering Style Code Live, its first live show, tonight

The infomercial isn’t dead — it’s just moved online. Now that it’s come out with its own fashion lines, Amazon is finding a new way to market its products. And it’s quite the throwback. Effectively becoming the QVC of the millennial generation, Amazon is launching its very first live show tonight, and with hosts whose pasts include being Miss America, a contestant on Big Brother, and an MTV presenter, there’s no way that you won’t be … amused. The 30-minute Style Code Live is the latest of Amazon’s digital video offerings, and claims to be a fashion and beauty program complete with makeup demos, interviews, and the latest style trends.

Airing Monday through Friday at 9 p.m. ET Style Code Live features hosts Lyndsey Rodrigues, Rachel Smith, and Frankie Grande, who on tonight’s episode will discuss “three fashion must-haves for spring” and “red lips — the beauty look of the moment.” Hooked yet?

And much like QVC or HSN or any other shopping network (because let’s face it, that’s exactly what Style Code Live is), there will be no advertisements to interrupt your half hour of fast-paced commentary and salesmanship, but never fear — if you see something on the show you want to buy, you’ll be able to access all mentioned products by way of a gallery positioned below the video player.

Ultimately, the segment is meant to be an interactive experience. “We can talk about what’s trending now, what’s happening in social media,” Munira Rahemtulla, the show’s director, tells Variety. “That way we’re able to create a community of people talking about fashion and beauty.”

Rachel Smith, who won the Miss America pageant back in 2007, tells The Next Web that the new show will give viewers “something they can’t find anywhere else.” The extent to which that particular statement holds true has yet to be determined, but if you’re a loyal Amazon customer, you may want to check out their latest endeavor.

God of War TV show officially ordered to series by Amazon
Kratos looks at the Leviathan Axe.

Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television will move forward with developing a live-action television series based on the God of War series of games.
Variety reports that Amazon has ordered this previously-rumored show to series and that it will focus on adapting the narrative of the 2018 game, where Kratos explores the Norse realms with his son Atreus while on a quest to spread his wife's ashes from the highest peak in Jotunheim. This God of War show will also add to a strong lineup of notable fantasy IP on Amazon Prime, as the service also features shows based on The Lord of the Rings and The Wheel of Time. In fact, The Wheel of Time executive producer Rafe Judkins will act as the God of War series' showrunner.
Joining Judkins will be writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, who are known for their work on Children of Men, 2008's Iron Man, Cowboys & Aliens, and The Expanse. God of War director Cory Barlog will be an executive producer alongside Asad Qizilbash, Carter Swan, Yumi Yang, Jeff Ketcham, and Roy Lee.
Recently, PlayStation has been making a significant push into the film and television scene with movies like Uncharted and shows like The Last of Us, which airs on HBO in January. Projects based on Twisted Metal, Ghost of Tsushima, and Jak & Daxter are also in the works. It makes sense to expand God of War to the medium of television, especially after November's God of War Ragnarok became Sony's fastest-selling first-party game of all time.
It will be interesting to see if any elements from that sequel, and the original trilogy on PS2 and PS4, also make their way into the first season of this show. The God of War live-action series does not currently have an announced release date or cast.

Casting Harry Styles and capturing England in the late 20th century in My Policeman
A man and a woman in a swimming pool in My Policeman.

It's only been a little over 50 years since homosexuality was decriminalized in England, but the stories of those who were impacted by the law remain just as relevant and vital now as they did in the past. My Policeman, a new film based on the novel by Bethan Roberts, tells such a story and focuses on three people: Tom, the titular policeman, who is closeted; Patrick, an out gay man forced to live in the shadows; and Marion, a schoolteacher who loves Tom and wants him to be something he's not.

Now streaming on Prime Video, the film has attracted attention due primarily to the casting of popular singer Harry Styles as Tom. In a conversation with Digital Trends, director Michael Grandage and actress Gina McKee discuss casting Styles as Tom, how the film captures a vital moment in LGBTQ history, and why it's important to confront past mistakes before it's too late.
