Everything we know about ‘Ash vs Evil Dead’ season 3 so far

'Ash vs. Evil Dead' season 3 gets its first full, gore-drenched trailer

Ash vs Evil Dead | Season 3 Official Trailer | STARZ
October may be the most wonderful time of the year for horror fans, but they’ll have to wait until after Valentine’s Day for season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead. With the third season of the hit series premiering February 25, Starz has released the first full trailer for the next story arc in Ash Williams’ ongoing battle against the demonic Deadites.

The third season of Ash vs Evil Dead is set to bring back Bruce Campbell as the legendary Ashley J. Williams, a chainsaw-wielding war vet who’s become the world’s reluctant savior. Also returning for the 10-episode arc are series regulars Ray Santiago as Pablo Simon Bolivar, Dana DeLorenzo as Kelly Maxwell, and Lucy Lawless as the enigmatic, sinister Ruby.

Back to school

Starz premiered the first full, blood-drenched trailer for season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead on January 18, a month before the series’ return to television.

Along with offering a peek at Ash’s life post-demons, the trailer previews the reunion of Ash, Pablo, and Kelly for more gore-spewing action. Fans also get a glimpse at Ash’s relationship with the daughter he didn’t know he had (and why they’ll likely need a heap of family counseling down the road), and some ominous hints of a “final test” in store for Ash and his gang.

Going full Papa Bear in first teaser

The first teaser for season 3 of Ash vs Evil Dead was released on Halloween 2017 (appropriately enough) and features him dealing with the usual host of threats from gruesome, undead enemies out to swallow human souls — as well as a new addition to his life: his long-lost daughter, Brandy.

Played by Arielle Carver-O’Neill (House Husbands, Suburbs), Brandy Barr appears to offer a new target for Ash’s enemies, but she also inspires a very uncommon trait — parental protectiveness — in the show’s titular hero.

An old-school theme for season 3?

The people of Ash’s hometown in Elk Grove, Michigan, finally appreciated his heroic actions after the events of the second season, but he will have more work to do fighting the Evil Dead in season 3. In new key art unveiled October 25, the show teases that “evil is about to get schooled.”

School apparently plays a big role in the upcoming season, and the show’s official Twitter account also explicitly stated we’ll “go back to school” this season.

A slight delay

The third season of Ash vs Evil Dead has already been a long time coming. Starz renewed the series in October 2016, but as summer 2017 approached, it became increasingly clear that the third season would arrive later than expected. Campbell told Red Carpet Crash in August it could be pushed because the premium network wanted a “cleaner slot within the year” for the series; he suggested it could be “first quarter of 2018” before the series premiered. Since he ended up being right, we hope he was just as accurate in his prediction that Starz will want a fourth season.

The show’s current order only extends through season 3, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see another renewal in the next several months. In the past, Starz has been quick to order more of the series; for example, Ash vs Evil Dead was renewed for season 2 even before the show debuted.

Update: We added the first trailer for season 3.

Everything coming to PBS in November 2024
Rachel Shenton and Nicholas Ralph in All Creatures Great and Small.

There are no new British dramas premiering on PBS in November, but there's more than enough programming to see you through the penultimate month of 2024. Ken Burns is premiering his new documentary, Leonardo da Vinci, about the world's most famous Renaissance man, artist, and inventor. And PBS has several other documentary and nature programs slated to run throughout the month.

PBS' non-partisan coverage of the 2024 presidential election will culminate on Tuesday, November 5. But if you're really missing your British dramas, there are encore presentations of All Creatures Great & Small and Call the Midwife coming as well.

What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in November 2024
A man stands in front of a caution sign.

James Patterson's Alex Cross character is getting a third chance in live-action this month on Amazon Prime Video. Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry have previously portrayed the titular detective character. Now, Black Adam's Aldis Hodge steps into the role. The new Cross series is Prime Video's biggest debut in November, but far from the only noteworthy addition. There are a lot of new additions to the streamer's movie lineup, including The Godfather trilogy, Silver Linings Playbook, and the unconventional vampire film Abigail.

Additionally, Prime Video is rebooting Cruel Intentions as a drama series, which has the potential to be another big hit for the streamer. And aside from Die Hard, there are only a handful of Christmas titles coming this month. We can appreciate a little restraint, especially since December will likely be a very different story.

Thanks to Disney's big summer at the box office, Disney+ gets to bring home the second-highest-grossing movie of the year in November. Deadpool & Wolverine is making its streaming debut on November 12, but it's not the only noteworthy new addition to Disney+. If you've ever loved the Star Wars and Indiana Jones themes of John Williams, then you should watch the new documentary Music By John Williams, which is available on Disney+ as of November 1.

A really charming Christmas-related animated short, An Almost Christmas Story, is arriving on November 15, while Beatles '64 adds yet another Beatlemania documentary to Disney+ on November 29. On that same date, Disney is also celebrating the 60th anniversary of Mary Poppins this month by releasing a special documentary about one of Walt Disney's personal favorite films. And finally, Disney gets to capitalize on the release of Wicked by bringing Oz the Great and Powerful to Disney+ near the end of November.
