The best anime on Amazon Prime Video right now

With new shows coming to Amazon Prime Video regularly, anime fans are served well. Admittedly, other streamers that are dedicated to anime — like Crunchyroll, Funimation, and Hidive — are best curated for enthusiasts, but Prime Video is an impressive platform when looked at as a supplement. The selection on hand through the streamer is solid and diverse, especially considering it’s more of an added value to what Amazon Prime and Prime Video normally provide.

Even if it’s used as a supplementary option for genre fans, Amazon Prime Video has some of the best anime to stream right now, spanning movies, TV, classics, and contemporary fan favorites.

For those who might be feeling a little overwhelmed, but are still intrigued by the genre, we also have worthwhile guides on the best anime on Netflix and the best anime on Hulu to help fans get the most value out of their subscriptions.

Known as Detective Conan in Japan, Case Closed is an adaptation of Gosho Aoyama’s manga following the delightful adventures of the titular detective after he ingests a poison that shrinks his body to the state of a child. Boxing anime has excellent representation with the likes of Hajime no Ippo and the much more recent Megalobox, but Ikki Kajiwara and Tetsuya Chiba’s Tomorrow’s Joe manga series arguably laid the groundwork. It went as far as being what Megalobox spun out of spiritually, with Tomorrow’s Joe telling a compelling story of a disenfranchised young man turning his life around in the midst of a brutally unfair situation. Tomorrow’s Joe The Movie is an anime film adaptation of the first season of the 1970 anime TV series, chronicling his life as a child bouncing between orphanages before he becomes a promising professional boxer. The movie is a condensed version of the first season, but it’s tastefully done nonetheless.
