Everything leaving Hulu in August 2023

As Hulu enters the month of August, it’s poised to lose several of its popular movies and TV shows including The Shape of Water, the first three Jurassic Park films, the modern remake of Dune, and more. Of course, this is offset by the fact that new movies and TV shows will arrive on Hulu at the beginning of the month. It’s the curse and the blessing of the streaming age. Nothing can stop the churn of content, but you can still make plans to catch your favorites before they leave. And you have 31 days to do so.

Below, we’ve put together a comprehensive list of everything leaving Hulu in August 2023. And our favorite selections are marked in bold.

This is also a great time to consider the Disney Bundle, which gets you Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ for just $14 per month. That’s basically like getting all three services, but only paying for two of them, and it’s pretty tough to beat. It’s also a great way to make sure you don’t miss anything on any of these services.

Trying to catch all the best films and shows before they become unavailable at the end of the month? Check our other monthly roundup of everything leaving Netflix.

Director Guillermo del Toro always wanted to make his take on The Creature from the Black Lagoon, but he was rebuffed by Universal. Years later, del Toro revisited his ideas in a new film, The Shape of Water, which went on to win the Oscars for Best Picture and Best Director for 2017.

In 1962, the U.S. government has captured an Amphibian Man (Doug Jones) with plans to study him. Elisa Esposito (Sally Hawkins), a lonely and mute cleaning woman at the base, discovers the Amphibian Man and she forms a close emotional bond with him. So much so that Elisa risks her life and her freedom to rescue the Amphibian Man from captivity. But this attracts the attention of Richard Strickland (Michael Shannon), a vengeful and paranoid Colonel who is willing to kill anyone involved with the Amphibian Man’s escape.

The best shows on Hulu right now (August 2023)
Paul Rudd stands on a stage in Only Murders in the Building.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a month when there aren't new shows coming to Hulu. The selection is vast, too. This month, for example, you can check out the continuation series to FX's Justified called Justified: Primeval if you're looking for a good neo-Western, or dive into the world of illicit affairs with The Ashley Madison Affair. Both shows, which came out recently, have been receiving good reviews.

Meanwhile, lots of popular shows are returning with new seasons. Make sure to catch up on Only Murders in the Building in time for season 3, which adds Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd to the cast. Reservation Dogs is also returning for its third and final season to wrap up the story. But there's plenty more worth checking out on Hulu. If you haven't yet jumped on The Bear, it'll be worth your while, as will shows like What We Do in the Shadows and Abbot Elementary. There's so much variety, and we have put together this list of the best shows on Hulu right now.

It may be summer, but someone at Amazon Prime Video really did some spring cleaning. Prime Video has lost a lot of movies recently, from the recent hits to the modern classics from other studios. But the good news is that a large number of movies dropped on Prime Video just a few days ago at the beginning of August. And they include one of the best James Bond films and a history-bending tale by Quentin Tarantino.

Want some help keeping track of Prime Video's new and classic titles? Don't worry, it's what we do best. And we've got the latest titles that make up the list of the best movies on Amazon Prime Video right now.
