Last month, it was reported that Warner Bros. was seeking a female filmmaker to direct its upcoming Wonder Woman solo movie starring Gal Gadot (pictured), and now it looks like the studio’s found its woman.

Emmy-winning Breaking Bad director Michelle MacLaren has agreed to helm Wonder Woman, according to The Hollywood Reporter. She will work with the still-unannounced writers on the project, which is reportedly planned as the first chapter in a potential trilogy.

Along with her award-winning work on Breaking Bad, MacLaren has also directed several episodes of HBO’s Game Of Thrones and AMC’s The Walking Dead. It’s these latter two projects that reportedly earned her the studio’s attention, as they both involve some intense action sequences alongside dramatic elements.

The outlet reports that MacLaren wasn’t the only female filmmaker the studio considered for Wonder Woman, with The Babadook director Jennifer Kent and Homeland director Lesli Linka Glatter also on the list.

Fast & Furious 6 actress Gal Gadot is expected to make her debut as Wonder Woman in 2016’s Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice a full year ahead of her solo adventure, which is scheduled to hit theaters in 2017. Gadot recently exited the upcoming Ben Hur remake in order to fulfill her commitments to WB’s ambitious superhero movie slate.
