Disney has a dino movie, too: Checkout The Good Dinosaur’s full trailer

Dinosaurs — extremely vicious ones — have been the big story of the box office this year with Jurassic World relentlessly gobbling up ticket sales records. Later this year, however, we’ll see how a more friendly dino fares when Disney-Pixar’s aptly named film, The Good Dinosaur, debuts. The full trailer has been released, sketching out the story of a lost dinosaur who stumbles across a human cave-boy and befriends him.

The computer-animated film takes place in an alternate timeline where the asteroid that is hypothesized to have hit Earth and made dinosaurs extinct misses, instead. In this B universe, a young Apatosaurus named Arlo struggles on his own after the death of his father. When the poor guy gets hurt and lost one day, he ends up far away from his home in the Clawed-Tooth Mountains. As he tries to make his way back, he comes across a cave-boy, whom (in a bit of archetypal movie role reversal) he names Spot.

It’s not smooth-sailing from there for Arlo and Spot, though. Arlo may be a plant-eater, but there are still big, scary dinosaurs out there, among other predators. On top of that, nature is a threat of its own. Based on the trailer, The Good Dinosaur will unfold into quite the adventure, while still managing to tug at our heart strings as Disney-Pixar movies always seem to do.

The combination of dinosaurs, Disney, and Pixar should be a winning one. Though Jurassic World overshadowed the opening weekend of Disney-Pixar’s latest flick, Inside Out (which still exceeded expectations with a record-setting debut), The Good Dinosaur may actually benefit from the blockbuster giant’s immense popularity. Dinos are huge right now so, all things told, we expect the response to be more than just so-so.

Though there isn’t much talking in The Good Dinosaur‘s trailer, the Peter Sohn-directed film includes the voices of Raymond Ochoa, Jack Bright, Neil Patrick Harris, Bill Hader, John Lithgow, Frances McDormand, and Judy Greer.

The Good Dinosaur hits theaters just before Thanksgiving on Nov. 25, 2015.

Be a wuss: Pixar movies make you cry, and that’s OK

If you're a cynic, you probably walked out of Coco convinced that you'd just been manipulated. You may have found the opening minutes of Up to be cloying and sentimental, or you might think that, as beautiful as some parts of Soul may be, it's all a little bit obvious. Pixar movies became a dominant force in our cultural conversations as soon as we first met Woody and Buzz in 1995, and since the very beginning, the storytellers at the studio have been remarkably good at making adults cry like babies.

In more recent years, the weeping that many come to expect from a great Pixar movie has begun to feel like a trap to some. Critics argue that Pixar adheres too closely to the formula it established in its earliest days, and that it's too reliant on sentiment and preening to move its audience. All of that might be true, but that doesn't necessarily mean the experience of a good Pixar cry is not worthwhile.

Jurassic World: Dominion prologue revisits the age of dinosaurs

The Jurassic World films, and their Jurassic Park predecessors, gave movie fans a look at the mayhem that occurs when dinosaurs are brought back to life in the present. However, in the five-minute "prologue" trailer released today for Jurassic World: Dominion (aka Jurassic World 3), we get a different point of view entirely. For the first time in the franchise, viewers get a glimpse of the dinosaurs in their native environment, 65 million years ago. While not part of the upcoming film, the opening sequence of the prologue plays like a nature film, as the dinosaurs are simply animals existing in harmony with each other. Well, kind of.

Fans who saw F9: The Fast Saga in IMAX have already witnessed the Jurassic World: Dominion prologue. However, the footage has now finally been released online by Universal Pictures. Even on a normal-sized screen, it's delightful to see so many different dinosaurs at once. But the biggest thrill is watching the battle between the T. Rex and the giganotosaurus. In the clash between apex predators, only one can survive.

Superman goes rogue in first trailer for DC’s Injustice movie

Between The Boys and Invincible, the evil Superman clone trope is getting a little old -- but that doesn't mean it isn't compelling when the Man of Steel falls from grace. The Injustice: Gods Among Us video game showed fans a world where Superman was driven mad from grief after Joker tricked him into murdering his wife, Lois Lane, and their unborn child. In response, Superman killed Joker and resolved to protect the world by any means necessary, even if that meant he had to rule the planet himself.

IGN has debuted the first trailer for Injustice, the upcoming animated film that delivers an adaptation of the events mentioned above. It also reminds fans that the entire city of Metropolis was destroyed as part of the Joker's "masterpiece," but the Clown Prince of Crime is going to get more than he bargained for by enraging the Last Son of Krypton.
