Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Trailer Drops

Guillermo del Toro may have vacated the director’s chair of The Hobbit, but the director and producer is anything but bored. Next up for del Toro is the release of the horror film Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, of which he is producing and co-writing.

Based on an ABC made-for-television movie from 1973, Guy Pearce (Momento, LA Confidential) stars as the father, and Katie Holmes (Batman Begins, Tom Cruise’s wife) is his girlfriend. Pearce’s daughter (played by Letter’s to God’s Bailee Madison) comes to stay with the couple after they inherit and old mansion, and she soon discovers creatures living in the house.  At first she thinks they are friendly, but she soon realizes how wrong she is.

Mrs. Davis trailer pits an angry nun against an all-powerful AI
Betty Gilpin in Mrs. Davis.

There's no shortage of stories about artificial intelligence going rogue. The Terminator and Matrix franchises are both prime examples of that. However, a new Peacock original series, Mrs. Davis, is taking a different tack. In this show, the titular A.I. isn't evil, but that doesn't mean that Mrs. Davis should dictate the fate of the world. And the AI of Mrs. Davis is so powerful that it actually encourages its chief detractor, a young nun named Simone, to come after it.

Owen Wilson goes the full Bob Ross in new trailer for Paint
Owen Wilson in Paint.

Bob Ross passed away nearly 28 years ago, but the painter-turned-TV-personality remains eternally popular thanks to his PBS series, The Joy of Painting. Owen Wilson's next film, the comedy Paint, is clearly taking its cues from Ross' life, including his signature hairstyle and a PBS television show that became an art empire. However, the key difference between Wilson's Carl Nargle and the real Bob Ross is that Carl's genial personality falls to the side when an upstart threatens everything he's worked for.
