Fans of iconic British rock and roll band The Beatles have had a lot of blessings befall them in 2016. After over eight months of jamming out to the band’s gilded catalog on streaming services, director Ron Howard has made the first trailer for his upcoming Beatles documentary, The Beatles: Eight Days A Week — The Touring Years, befall public eyes. And boy, does it look like a good one.
The new extended trailer comes just one month after viewers got their first minute-long look at the film — a tease which whet the appetite of rock and roll lovers the world over.
Featuring exclusive interviews with the band’s two surviving members, as well as never-before-seen footage from the groups’ early years, Howard (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) shows a group of young musicians who were just as scared of their smash success as they were excited about it.
A personal look into the shifting lives of The Beatles at the beginning of their rise to international superstardom, the film will be extremely interesting for longtime listeners of the band. Howard has a history of interesting documentary films, including In The Shadow of The Moon, a 2007 release that investigated the space race of the 1960s and won the World Cinema Audience Award at the Sundance Film Festival.
After it’s initial debut this fall, Hulu has secured the rights to stream the new rock doc, meaning that it, like the music itself, will be easily streamable for people around the globe. The film will be the first released under Hulu’s new Documentary Films arm — an excellent choice by any measure.
Those who wish to see the film on the big screen can still do so. The film will premiere in London on September 15 of this year, and Hulu has partnered with film distributor Abramorama to show the Eight Days A Week in select theaters worldwide after its debut.
