The best tennis players in the world head to Paris for the 2024 French Open. The year’s second major championship will be played on the clay courts at Stade Roland Garros, which will also host the 2024 Summer Olympics. Novak Djokovic and Iga Świątek are the defending champions and enter this year’s tournament as the top seeds.

All eyes will be on Rafael Nadal, who may be playing in this tournament for the last time. Nadal is a 14-time French Open champion, with his most recent championship coming in 2022. Nadal enters the tournament unseeded with a protected ranking. If Nadal is going to reach the finals, he will need to go on a magical run with multiple wins over the top seeds.

October is a big month for TV. One of the most popular shows on Netflix, Outer Banks, returns for its fourth season, which will be split into two parts. Speaking of returning shows, Heartstopper season 3 and The Diplomat season 2 are back in October. Additionally, the NBA will introduce a new 10-part docuseries, Starting 5, which chronicles the 2023-2024 season.

Enough about television; let's focus on movies -- not the top titles, but the ones that can get lost within the Netflix vault. Below are five movies that will not be on this week's most popular list. However, they all might be considered underrated, depending on your preference. Our picks include a dystopian thriller, a teen romance, and a raunchy animated comedy.

3 rom-coms on Netflix you need to watch in October 2024
A man holds a woman while she puts her arms over his neck.

Love is in the air on Netflix. As the season changes to fall, it's time to stay inside and watch a rom-com. One of the most famous rom-coms of the last 20 years, The Notebook, is now streaming on Netflix. If you don't feel like watching The Notebook for the hundredth time, stream one of the service's original rom-coms, including Hit Man, A Family Affair, and Mother of the Bride.

The rom-coms don't stop there. Netflix has an entire section dedicated to romance, which includes several subgenres — rom-com, emotional, holiday, adventure, and family. If you need a recommendation, try watching one of these three rom-coms: a tender father-daughter story, a TV show with millennial icons, and a 2000s staple.
