‘Game of Thrones’ concert tour to merge live orchestra with intricate staging

game of thrones live concert
Game of Thrones has become a bona fide pop culture phenomenon over the last five years, and now the conclusion of its TV adaptation is in sight. On Monday, Live Nation announced a 2017 concert tour that will allow fans to enjoy performances of some of the iconic pieces of music that have accompanied the HBO show.

Isaac Hempstead Wright, who plays Bran Stark, and composer Ramin Djawadi were on hand at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles to make the announcement. Djawadi noted that the idea for the tour came from one of the show’s creators, according to a report from Variety.

“We were in the studio together reviewing some music and one of them said, ‘I would love to see this live. I want to full orchestra. I want to see a choir,’” Djawadi recalled. The show that is being planned is poised to mirror the pomp and spectacle of the TV show.

Special stage designs paired with LED screens will ensure that attendees will get a real flavor of the Game of Thrones experience. Concept art released by Live Nation depicts huge towers topped with flaming torches that provide space for the orchestra and the choir.

Djawadi also teased some of the music that will be performed on the tour, confirming the inclusion of three memorable pieces. Mhysa from season 3, The Children from season 4, and Light of the Seven from this year’s installment will all be featured on the setlist.

The Game of Thrones concert tour will get underway in February 2017, starting in Kansas City and traveling to 28 cities, with three dates north of the border in Canada. Tickets will go on sale via the Live Nation website on August 13.
