The latest thing to be Lego-ified (though not officially) is Back to the Future Part II, or, ahem: Brick to the Future Part II. Questionable titular pun aside, this fan-made video is loads of fun, and besides recreating some iconic scenes from the movie, it also includes some truly unexpected, yet truly awesome cameos.
We spotted a flying Mystery Machine piloted by the Scooby-Doo crew, Doctor Who, and even Marvel’s Nick Fury in the course of the video and there are also a ton of famous props scattered throughout, including Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber (just in time for the new trailer!) and Captain America’s shield.
The star of the show, however, is the Lego Delorean that Marty McFly and Doc Brown pilot into the future. You’ll notice that the date on its dashboard reads 10-21-2015 … otherwise known as tomorrow.
The film was created to celebrate that date, which is also known as Back to the Future Day, since it’s the actual day that Marty and Doc arrived in the future in the film.
Interestingly enough, the Chicago Cubs, who famously broke the curse and won the 2015 World Series in the film, are scheduled to play the New York Mets in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series on that very date. Back to the Future Fever should therefore be in full effect at Wrigley Field and you can bet that fans around the country will be marking the date as well.
A product of Lego filmmaker MonsieurCaron, the blissfully blocky tribute is embedded above, but if you don’t want to carve out the 108 minutes necessary to watch the original film, we’d suggest that you steer clear. Happy Back to the Future Eve, everyone.
