‘Man of Steel’ sequel is in the works, according to Henry Cavill’s manager

After Man of Steel premiered in 2013, a sequel seemed assured despite the criticism the film received, but the underwhelming performance of follow-ups Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad seemed to put Warner Bros. Pictures’ plans for Superman on hold.

Now, it appears that it is up, up, and away again for DC Comics’ iconic superhero — at least, that is what Superman actor Henry Cavill’s manager seems to think.

In an interview with Newsweek that primarily focused on talent manager Dany Garcia’s relationship with her biggest client, Dwayne Johnson, some hints of what is to come for Superman and her other client, Cavill, also found their way into the story.

“Henry has a big appetite,” Garcia said of Cavill. “We’ve been in a five-month period of time where he’s re-strategizing, acquiring property [for his company Promethean Productions]. He’s filming [Justice League] now, [and] he’s in development for the Superman stand-alone.”

Along with confirming that plans are in the works for another solo Superman movie featuring Cavill as the Man of Steel, Garcia’s comments also indicate the actor is taking a more active role in shaping the big-screen future of his DC Comics character.

“He’s beginning to expand that world,” Garcia said. “It’s beautifully teed up. In a year from now, or two years from now, he’s going to be a force globally.”

At the moment, there are no official plans for a solo Superman movie in the calendar for WB’s cinematic superhero universe. The next project scheduled to hit theaters is Wonder Woman in June 2017, followed by the team-up movie Justice League in November 2017. Those projects are followed by films focusing on The Flash and Aquaman, then a still-unidentified movie planned for 2018 that is rumored to be Ben Affleck’s solo Batman feature.

Along with Brown returning as the title character, Enola Holmes 2 also brings back Henry Cavill (The Witcher) as Sherlock, as well as director Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag) behind the camera, among others.
