Netflix to revisit the Steven Avery case in 'Making a Murderer' season 2

Questions about the guilt of convicted murderers Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey still loom, and their legal battles are far from over. Fortunately for fans of Netflix’s Making a Murderer, the hit series will continue to follow their stories. The streamer announced Tuesday that Making a Murderer will return with more episodes.

When Making a Murderer picks up again, viewers will get an in-depth look at the ongoing legal proceedings as Avery and Dassey’s attorneys fight their convictions, reports Variety. Viewers will also get to hear from the key players, including family, friends, and the men’s legal teams. This time around, Avery has a new lawyer, Kathleen Zellner, while Dassey is represented by Laura Nirider and Steve Drizin.

Netflix promised a return via a tweet by the official Making a Murderer Twitter account.

Fan response played a huge part in the show’s continuation, according to the show’s creators, Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos, who are returning to executive produce and co-direct.

“The viewers’ interest and attention has ensured that the story is not over, and we are fully committed to continuing to document events as they unfold,” said the duo, according to Variety.

Given the response to the series — which included armchair detective work, petitions, protests, and more — fans will be eager to binge on more Making a Murderer as soon as possible. At this point, however, Netflix has yet to announce when season 2 will premiere; it also remains to be seen how many new episodes are coming.

Regardless of when Making a Murderer returns, the fact that another installment is on the way is enough to make its devoted fans cheer.
