The third season of Chef’s Table is set to premiere globally on September 2, and will highlight some of the best French chefs, who will be discussing what inspired them, as well as their own individual styles. Featured in the special four-episode season, which follows the release of six new season 2 episodes this past May, will be Alain Passard of L’Arpege; Michel Troisgros, Maison Troisgros; Adeline Grattard, Yam’Tcha; and Alexandre Couillon, La Marine. Netflix had previously confirmed that a fourth season will air in early 2017.
Anthology series Easy will premiere globally on September 22. Exploring characters from Chicago “fumbling through the modern maze of love, sex, technology, and culture,” the show includes eight episodes. It was created, written, and directed by Joe Swanberg, and will feature a star-studded cast that includes Orlando Bloom, Malin Akerman, Dave Franco, Hannibal Buress, Emily Ratajkowski, amd Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
The first half of season 1 of The Ranch, which stars Ashton Kutcher and Danny Masterson, premiered in April. And now, Netflix confirms that the second half of the season, with another 10 episodes, will premiere on October 7. The half-hour multicamera comedy series is set on a Colorado ranch, where Kutcher and Masterson play brothers in a dysfunctional family. Also starring are Sam Elliott, Debra Winger, and Elisha Cuthbert. Both Kutcher and Masterson are executive producers of the show, along with Don Reo and Jim Patterson, who both previously worked on another Kutcher-starring sitcom, Two and a Half Men.
On October 21, fans will get a third season of anthology series Black Mirror, which will continue to question and address our concerns about the modern world, including technology. It is, confirms Netflix, a “Black Mirror reflecting our 21st century existence back at us.” The six episodes are entitled San Junipero, Shut Up and Dance, Nosedive, Men Against Fire, Hated in the Nation, and Playtest. They will feature a steady stream of top acting talent, including Mbatha-Raw and Bryce Dallas Howard.
November 17, will bring the second season of Lovesick, a romantic comedy that was formerly hilariously titled Scrotal Recall. There will be a total of eight episodes released on that day, with creator Tom Edge returning as a writer and executive producer.
Beat Bugs, an animated show inspired by the songs of The Beatles, has been confirmed to return for season two on November 18; the first season premieres globally on August 3. An uplifting series, the 13 season 2 episodes will continue to follow five friends who discover important life lessons in their overgrown suburban backyard. Each childhood adventure is lived out to the words and music of the iconic band. The show features more than 50 songs from the Lennon/McCartney “Northern Songs” catalog, plus covers by popular music artists including Pink, Eddie Vedder, James Corden, Regina Spektor, Of Monsters and Men, The Shins, Chris Cornell, and Sia, among others.
We finally know when the highly anticipated Gilmore Girls reboot, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, will premiere: November 25. The season will consist of four, 90-minute chapters, each spanning one of the four seasons , It will pick back up with the fast-talking mother-daughter duo from the original television series.
On the docuseries side is Captive, which will premiere on December 9. This show takes a deep dive into topics like the efforts to resolve hostage-taking crises, and how to address this escalating trend. Each episode takes a look at a unique situation from the viewpoint of all parties involved, including the victims, their families, the negotiators, business leaders, government officials, and even the kidnappers themselves.
Moving into 2017, One Day at a Time, a reimagining of the Norman Lear classic, will premiere on January 6. The show centers on a Cuban-American family – a recently separated former military mom (Justina Machado) now navigating single life with her two kids, a radical teenage daughter and socially adept tween son. There will be a total of 13 episodes in the inaugural season.
