New images from The Amazing Spider-Man arrive online

Columbia Pictures has released a set of new images from The Amazing Spider-Man, the studio’s upcoming reboot of the wall-crawling superhero franchise.

The six images feature Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker and Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Peter’s first love in the Marvel Comics universe. Along with offering up another nice, high-res look at the redesigned Spider-Man costume Garfield will sport in the film, the images also tease the aftermath of what looks to be a pretty nasty encounter Peter Parker has with… something.

There’s also an image of Peter without the Spider-Man suit, clinging to the ceiling of a subway car.

While there’s not a lot of new information to glean from the images, any news is interesting news when it comes to the upcoming revamp of the blockbuster franchise by director Marc Webb.

Last month, we received a number of big updates in a short period of time around San Diego’s Comic-Con International. Not only did we get the first footage from the film courtesy of The Amazing Spider-Man teaser trailer, but we also got a brand new poster for the project.

The Amazing Spider-Man is scheduled to hit 3-D and 2-D theaters on July 3, 2012. Along with Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, the film also stars Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.

Is Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse better than Into the Spider-Verse?
The poster for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse had a tall task ahead of it. The new film from Sony Pictures had to follow up on one of the greatest superhero movies of all time in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. While Across pushes the boundaries of cinema even further than its predecessor, is that enough to top the remarkable achievement of the original?
Both movies possess unique and groundbreaking visuals

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse once again follows Miles Morales (Shameik Moore), a teenager in New York City who likes to sling webs in his free time. Miles has been his universe's one and only Spider-Man for over a year, and he's honed his Spidey skills significantly more than when audiences last saw him in 2018. Now, Miles is thrust into the reality of Spider-Man; how can he save everyone without losing himself? When his multiversal friend and fellow Spider-person Gwen Stacy returns to Miles' Earth on a mission, the entire multiverse is at risk of deteriorating. And it's all because of Miles.

Which Marvel villains should be in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4?
Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

The MCU has plenty of upcoming projects that fans are excited about, but a potential fourth entry in Tom Holland's Spider-Man series is near the list's top. 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home ended with Holland's Peter entering a new phase in his life. Forgotten by the world and with no one left by his side, Peter is now closer to the perpetually down-on-his-luck version from the comics that fans have come to know and love. The ending is the perfect setup for a new Spidey adventure, with Spider-Man acting as the street-level hero he was always supposed to be. But who should he fight in his new adventure, especially now that he has no Avengers or Avengers-adjacent allies by his side?

Well, the possibilities are limitless. After all, Spider-Man has some of the best and most iconic villains in Marvel comics, and while many have already appeared in the Web Slinger's numerous live-action projects, some remain untouched by the film industry. From fearsome crime bosses to chameleonic supervillains, these infamous foes would make worthy enemies for Holland's Spider-Man.
