Created by Science vs. Cinema co-creator James Darling, the Star Wars supercut trailer does a fantastic job of editing together all of the footage released so far by Disney and Lucasfilm into a relatively seamless trailer. All told, it’s the product of at least two full trailers and multiple teasers that the studio debuted at various points in the lead-up to The Force Awakens premiere, but the entire package still manages to feel like a single preview piece.
Set 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi. Along with introducing a new generation of characters to the Star Wars universe, the film will bring back some very familiar faces as well.
The cast of returning actors includes Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, and Peter Mayhew, and they’re joined by Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and more franchise newcomers who include Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max Von Sydow.
The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay penned by Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, and Michael Arndt.
Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015. It will be followed on December 16, 2016, by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, then Star Wars: Episode VIII on May 26, 2017, and the Han Solo anthology movie on May 25, 2018.
