Here’s all of the Star Wars footage so far crammed into one long trailer

Star Wars: THE FORCE AWAKENS - Supercut of ALL trailers
A new trailer for Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens was released earlier this week, and along with causing quite a bit of excitement, it also revealed an impressive amount of new footage from the much-anticipated sequel. That footage was recently added to the scenes featured in previous teasers for The Force Awakens to create an extended, unofficial “supercut” of Star Wars trailers.

And at just shy of four minutes long, the preview provides our most comprehensive look at The Force Awakens so far.

Created by Science vs. Cinema co-creator James Darling, the Star Wars supercut trailer does a fantastic job of editing together all of the footage released so far by Disney and Lucasfilm into a relatively seamless trailer. All told, it’s the product of at least two full trailers and multiple teasers that the studio debuted at various points in the lead-up to The Force Awakens premiere, but the entire package still manages to feel like a single preview piece.

Star Wars
Set 30 years after the events of Star Wars: Episode VI — Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi. Along with introducing a new generation of characters to the Star Wars universe, the film will bring back some very familiar faces as well.

The cast of returning actors includes Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, and Peter Mayhew, and they’re joined by Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and more franchise newcomers who include Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max Von Sydow.

The Force Awakens is directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay penned by Abrams, Lawrence Kasdan, and Michael Arndt.

Star Wars: Episode VII — The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015. It will be followed on December 16, 2016, by Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, then Star Wars: Episode VIII on May 26, 2017, and the Han Solo anthology movie on May 25, 2018.

7 things we wished Disney did differently with the Star Wars sequel trilogy
Fortnite Star Wars Scene

The Star Wars sequel trilogy was a divisive return to the galaxy far, far away. While it held so much promise with the success of The Force Awakens, subsequent films became the target of hate and ridicule from fans and critics to the point that everyone's hopes for the franchise seemed to have been dashed (at least until The Mandalorian came around).

The sad truth is that this trilogy was never going to live up to everyone's expectations, especially not with the astronomically high pedestal they had all placed the franchise on. Despite this, Disney could've done certain things differently that would've made it a more worthy follow-up to the original Star Wars movies.
