There are times when being a TV fan involves agonizing over whether or not your favorite show will be renewed, but for Outlander die-hards, that won’t be the case anytime soon. Currently in the midst of season 2, the drama series has now been renewed for two more seasons.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht announced today that the premium network has ordered “Book Three” and “Book Four,” emphasizing that the renewal serves as assurance that the popular show will run for “several more years.” As the show continues, “Book Three” will be based on Voyager, the third of Diana Gabaldron’s eight-book hit series, while “Book Four” will be based on the fourth, Drums of Autumn.

The series has built a strong fan base since its August 2014 premiere, and its popularity is only growing. While season 1 averaged a very respectable audience of 5 million multiplatform viewers per episode, according to Starz, season 2 is faring even better. Not only did its premiere set a Starz record for an original series/season premiere, the second season has made the show one of the highest rated among adult women across all of cable over the first seven episodes.

Outlander is like nothing seen before on television,” said Albrecht in a statement. “From its depiction of a truly powerful female lead character, to the devastating decimation of the Highlander way of life, to what is a rarely seen genuine and timeless love story, it is a show that not only transports the viewer, but inspires the passion and admiration of its fans.”

Critics seem to agree as well. The series earned three 2016 Golden Globe nods (including Best Drama Series) and was even named the “Most Bingeworthy Show of 2016” at the Critics’ Choice Awards. With two more seasons to look forward to (so far), we’ll just have to see if the series can deliver on Sony Pictures Television’s promise that the best seasons are still ahead.

huawei p50 launch delayed news series teaser

Huawei has teased the Huawei P50 smartphone series, but it is not in a position to provide a launch date for the phone yet. The phone was briefly previewed at the end of Huawei’s “Live Smart With Huawei” event streamed online on June 2, where the first major release of HarmonyOS was detailed, along with new products running the software including the Huawei Watch 3.

Moments before the event ended, Huawei Business Group CEO Richard Yu said, “Consumers around the globe have been looking forward to our next flagship smartphone,” before playing a brief teaser video showing the Huawei P50’s unique design. It’s close to some of the rumors about the phone which have appeared over the last few months, with striking dual circular camera modules on the back. The top module contains three cameras, and the lower module has one, along with a flash unit.

Mars helicopter can’t fly until it gets a software update, NASA says
NASA’s Ingenuity Mars helicopter is seen in a close-up taken by Mastcam-Z, a pair of zoomable cameras aboard the Perseverance rover. This image was taken on April 5, 2021, the 45th Martian day, or sol, of the mission.

NASA says its Mars Ingenuity helicopter requires a software update before it can attempt its first flight on the red planet.

There's a lot riding on Ingenuity as it seeks to become the first-ever aircraft to perform powered flight on another planet. The diminutive machine, which arrived on Mars with the Perseverance rover in February 2021, was supposed to make its first flight on Sunday, April 11, but an issue that emerged during a high-speed spin test of the aircraft's rotors prompted NASA to postpone the effort.
