Starz Play now live on Roku Platform

starz play roku streaming app
Starz announced today that Starz Play has launched on the entire Roku platform, meaning Starz Premium subscribers who also own a Roku set-top box (1, 2, or 3), Roku TV model, or a Roku Stick can drop all work-related pursuits and start binge-streaming the channel’s content today — you’re welcome, bosses of America. Roku users will now have access to Starz original series, movies, and first-run films through the Starz Play app, which can be found in the Movies & TV category within the Roku Channel Store.

Original series like Blunt Talk, Survivor’s Remorse, and Outlander headline the app’s small screen offerings, while first-run films like Big Hero 6, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Fury, Annie, Maleficent, Into the Woods, The Equalizer, Muppets Most Wanted, and The Wedding Ringer are the stars (bad pun intended) in the movie department.

“Starz is pleased to launch Starz Play on Roku devices, expanding the reach of Starz Play to millions of Roku customers,” said Scott Barton, senior vice president of branded digital content and products for Starz. “The Roku platform is a significant addition for our TV Everywhere service and we’re proud to give subscribers another option to watch our critically acclaimed Starz Original series and premium movies.”

Starz Play is already available on a host of connected devices, including iPhone, iPad, many Android handsets and tablets, Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Chromecast, and plenty of others. If you’re one of the many people who already had access to the app, this isn’t huge news but as far as we’re concerned, the more streaming options the better.

Starz Play is available free to Starz Premium subscribers and allows customers to access content from any supported connected screen, whether at home or on-the-go.

Roku 3 typically retails for around $99, while the company’s standard Streaming Stick will set you back around $40.
