Nearly 14 years after the original spawned catchphrases and games that are probably still heard in college dorms to this day, it looks like the cult-classic film Super Troopers from comedy troupe Broken Lizard will be getting a sequel.

After earning its benchmark number of $2 million in just 24 hours, the Indiegogo campaign for the sequel ended with nearly $4.4 million from more than 50,000 fans, making it the second-biggest crowdfund campaign for a film, and one million shy of the record set by the Veronica Mars Kickstarter campaign in 2013.

Broken Lizard is made up of Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. The group secured a distribution deal for the proposed sequel leading up to the campaign with 20th Century Fox, and produced a teaser video to get fans excited about the prospects of a sequel.

While the campaign fell short of the ultimate goal of $5 million, plenty of stretch goals were hit along the way. Depending on their contribution, donators will get a host of incentives including autographed scripts and DVD cases, exclusive tickets to future screenings of the movie, being personally called a chickenf*cker in a YouTube video and more.

However, the stretch goals the campaign just missed are even more interesting. If the goal of $4.5 million was attained, live bears would have somehow found their way into the movie. Yes, real, live bears. If $5 million was reached, Brian Cox, who played Captain O’Hagan in the original would’ve returned in some capacity.

The original Super Troopers was released in 2001 and followed the exploits of five dimwitted Vermont state troopers that somehow were able to take down a drug ring. Though it wasn’t very successful in its theatrical release, the film garnered a huge cult following when it was released on DVD.

Super Troopers 2 is slated to start filming in the summer with a release date still to be determined. If you feel like you missed out, you can always donate more money in the hopes of getting live bears or Brian Cox in the film.

Everything coming to PBS in November 2024
Rachel Shenton and Nicholas Ralph in All Creatures Great and Small.

There are no new British dramas premiering on PBS in November, but there's more than enough programming to see you through the penultimate month of 2024. Ken Burns is premiering his new documentary, Leonardo da Vinci, about the world's most famous Renaissance man, artist, and inventor. And PBS has several other documentary and nature programs slated to run throughout the month.

PBS' non-partisan coverage of the 2024 presidential election will culminate on Tuesday, November 5. But if you're really missing your British dramas, there are encore presentations of All Creatures Great & Small and Call the Midwife coming as well.

What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in November 2024
A man stands in front of a caution sign.

James Patterson's Alex Cross character is getting a third chance in live-action this month on Amazon Prime Video. Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry have previously portrayed the titular detective character. Now, Black Adam's Aldis Hodge steps into the role. The new Cross series is Prime Video's biggest debut in November, but far from the only noteworthy addition. There are a lot of new additions to the streamer's movie lineup, including The Godfather trilogy, Silver Linings Playbook, and the unconventional vampire film Abigail.

Additionally, Prime Video is rebooting Cruel Intentions as a drama series, which has the potential to be another big hit for the streamer. And aside from Die Hard, there are only a handful of Christmas titles coming this month. We can appreciate a little restraint, especially since December will likely be a very different story.

A really charming Christmas-related animated short, An Almost Christmas Story, is arriving on November 15, while Beatles '64 adds yet another Beatlemania documentary to Disney+ on November 29.
