Sylvester Stallone says his days of playing Rambo are behind him

Sylvester Stallone may have been willing to reprise his role as Rocky Balboa in Creed, but don’t expect to see him playing John Rambo again. The actor recently told Variety that he doesn’t plan to play the skilled yet reckless war veteran again.

Although there have been rumors about Stallone working on a fifth Rambo film, the actor indicated that he’d rather “leave [the role] to someone else.” As unfortunate as it is for fans, Stallone’s age seems to be holding him back. “The heart’s willing, but the body says, ‘Stay home!'” the 69-year-old action star said. We can’t blame him — running through jungles, stealing helicopters, and freeing POWs, even when it’s all fictional, can’t be easy.

Perhaps Stallone would be more inclined to continue as the series’ protagonist if he felt he had unfinished business, but the actor is happy with what he’s done and doesn’t think he’d be able to top it. “When they asked me to do another Rambo, I said, ‘If I can’t do better than I did last time, and I can’t, then why?'” he said.

Even though Stallone is ready to move on from Rambo, Fox doesn’t think audiences are. The studio has a TV spin-off in the works that will focus on the former soldier’s son. Not only will Stallone not be involved (despite initial reports to the contrary), he seems pessimistic about the prospective project.

“I don’t want to cast aspersions,” he said, “but it’s delicate to try to replace a character with his son. I’ve seen the son of Flicka, the son of Tarzan, the son of King Kong, the son of Godzilla. It’s a very difficult premise.”

Moving forward, Stallone has plans to appear in a sequel to Creed, and his voice will be heard in both Ratchet & Clank and Animal Crackers.

Netflix's deals with Sony Pictures Animation, DreamWorks Animation, and Universal Pictures have given it a powerhouse library of animated films. And that's before we even get into Netflix's impressive originals like The Sea Beast. To help you keep track of what's new and what you can stream right now, we've updated our list of the best animated movies on Netflix.

10 best Batman stories ever, ranked
Batman Year One cover

Bounding from rooftop to rooftop, the Dark Knight never misses his mark. He operates like a well-oiled machine tracking bad guys, beating them to a bloody pulp, and throwing them in the slammer - or Arkham Asylum should they be anyone of Gotham's notable supervillains. As the brainchild of Bob Kane and Bill Finger, an artist and writer duo, Batman has been pounding the pavement of Gotham ever since his debut in Detective Comics in 1939. He's undergone a number of changes since his original conception ultimately becoming the brooding powerhouse we know today.

Most understand the basic tenants of Batman these days. His parents were murdered before his young eyes leading him down this path of personal vindication and pursuit of justice. Batman, in most iterations, never resorts to killing -- the one crime that separates his outlaw vigilante operations from the real criminals. Of course, it wasn't always that way. In Batman's earliest days, he had no qualms about ending the lives of baddies on the streets. Even now, some stories and films like Tim Burton's gothic take on the character depict him looking on with cold and uncaring glares as criminals meet their end. Regardless, Batman is mostly a well-established hero simply seeking justice and there are countless stories of the Caped Crusader. Let's take a look at the best among them.
