Feig’s tweet came after a number of unofficial pictures made the rounds on the NeoGAF forum — the director was probably tempted into action as those leaked shots included a similar cast shot as well as pictures of a Ghostbusters-branded motorcycle and the new Ecto-1 car.
We didn’t get any new information with the tweet, but it gives us our best idea yet of what the Ghostbusters reboot is going to look like when it hits screens on July 22 next year. Filming began last month in Boston so we’ve got a long stretch of leaks and promotion ahead of us.
Alongside the main Ghostbusters team, the film features Neil Casey, Andy García, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, Cecily Strong, Pat Kiernan, and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth as the receptionist in the Ghostbusters office. The new instalment in the franchise will arrive a little over 32 years after the first movie came out.
The original Ghostbusters — starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson — was one of the biggest hits of the ’80s, raking in close to $300 million in worldwide box office receipts and getting two Academy Award nominations along the way. A sequel followed in 1989.
