That’s Edward Mora (Bradley Cooper) speaking to Brian Finch (Jake Dorman) at the beginning of the trailer for the new CBS FBI thriller series “Limitless.” Would you take a mysterious brain-enhancing drug from Bradley Cooper? Finch does, and it’s the premise for the TV series based on the 2011 film of the same name. Along with appearing in the first episode, Cooper may have a recurring role in the new series he’s executive producing, according to Variety.
The series follows “Finch, who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them,” according to a press release. The series, as well as the film, is based on Alan Glynn’s 2001 book “The Dark Fields.”
Mora, the same character that Cooper played in the film, is now a Senator and Presidential candidate. The character still uses NZT, the same drug he gave Finch, and “has plans of his own for his new protege.” As the first look (above) depicts, he sure isn’t happy that Finch has begun to work with the FBI.
Finch will work with Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter of Dexter fame), a “formidable investigator with a dark past,” Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper) and Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a “canny manipulator of the reins of power.”
Alongside Cooper, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, the original film director Neil Berger, and Tom Forman are also exec producing the series.
CBS entertainment chair Nina Tassler described the series as an “action-packed, fast-paced thrill-ride” in an announcement this morning, but you’ll be able to decide for yourself on Tuesdays this Fall.
