An invisible man wears a human mask in Hollow Man.
Sony

Would you be surprised if I told you one of the most underrated streaming services around is Tubi?  The upstart streamer has tons of new and old TV shows from every decade and every genre imaginable. Want to watch the buzziest series that aired on HBO Max? Tubi has it. Are you feeling nostalgic about that old movie or cartoon you used to watch as a kid in the ’80s or ’90s? Chances are, Tubi has it.

Tubi has so much content that it can be hard to choose which shows are worth your time. Digital Trends is here to help you sort out which ones are worth your time. Even though the streaming service is free, time is valuable, and no one wants to waste it watching subpar content.

What’s new on Disney+ in August 2023
Karen Gillan in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

If you love outer space adventures, then Disney+ is the place to be in August. The House of Mouse is kicking off the month with the streaming premiere of the latest Marvel Studios movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. And for all of the talk of superhero fatigue at the box office, the third Guardians of the Galaxy movie was the second-highest grossing movie of the summer after Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. The key lesson is that fans will still come out for good superhero movies.

The Andrew Garfield-led Amazing Spider-Man 2 arrives on August 11, which means that Spider-Man: Far From Home and Spider-Man: No Way Home will soon be the only live-action Spidey flicks that aren't on Disney+. Hopefully, that will change in the months ahead. Also on August 11, Disney is releasing several of its classic cartoon shorts featuring Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy.

What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in August 2023
A woman hides from a bear in Cocaine Bear.

Amazon Prime Video doesn't always tout it, but the streamer's deals with Paramount and Universal Pictures mean that some of this year's theatrical releases are coming to Prime Video after brief runs on Paramount+ and Peacock. This month, that applies to the sleeper hit, Cocaine Bear, and the surprisingly well-executed Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. If that's not enough, Prime Video is also adding a number of recent films and classic movies early in August including Amadeus, Galaxy Quest, Women Talking, and more.

Intriguingly, Prime Video is also adding '80s TV hits LA Law and Matlock early in August. And near the end of the month, NFL fans can celebrate the return of Thursday Night Football. Additionally, the new seasons of The Summer I Turned Pretty and Good Omens. will continue throughout the month.

What’s new on Paramount+ in August 2023
The four TMNT brothers enjoy a lighter moment in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Depending upon which tier you subscribe to, Paramount+ can be a very different experience. The standard tier is the Paramount+ that you remember, including original shows and classic movies interrupted by commercials. The highest tier, Paramount+ with Showtime, offers more movies and more original shows, including the seventh season of the acclaimed Showtime series, The Chi and Billions. But if you want more, you'll have to pay more.

All tiers of Paramount+ will get to stream films like Gone Baby Gone, Rudy, Sicario, The Running Man, and The Truman Show. Additionally, since Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is coming to theaters in August, Paramount+ is bringing the first three live-action films and the first TMNT animated movie back to streaming.
