We still have over a year to go before X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters, but director Bryan Singer is keeping interest elevated with a regular stream of photos posted to his Instagram account from the set of the highly anticipated film. And the latest addition to his behind-the-scenes gallery may be one of the most intriguing yet.

On Monday, Singer posted a photo of production art created for X-Men: Apocalypse by designer Grant Major, depicting a mysterious figure standing outside a massive, purple-hued mechanical vehicle of some sort. Singer captioned the photo sample, “Some production art. #XmenApocalypse #GrantMajor I was a little busy but will continue to snap more.”

Speculation suggests that the image may depict the monstrous alien spacecraft that the immortal Egyptian mutant En Sabah Nur uses to become the powerful tyrant known as Apocalypse in Marvel Comics’ X-Men lore.

X-Men: Apocalypse is currently in pre-production, with cameras expected to begin rolling in late March or April in Montreal. The film is said to be the conclusion of the trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class, the popular 2011 film that effectively rebooted the X-Men franchise.

Franchise stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult are all expected to reprise their roles for the film, which will also features the debut of Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones) as Jean Grey, Tye Sheridan (Mud) as Cyclops, and a relative unknown in Alexandra Shipp as Storm.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters May 27, 2016.
