Flight of the Conchords is coming back with all-new material and a US tour

New Zealand’s famed comedic folk duo, Flight of The Conchords, have announced a full tour this summer, which will include their previously-announced appearance at this year’s Newport Folk Festival. The group will use the opportunity to test new material on the road, according to a press release from Sub Pop.

This is good new for fans of the group, who officially broke up in 2012 so that co-writers Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie could pursue other creative projects, like the ever-awesome vampire comedy What We Do In The Shadows. With a full tour and new songs in the works, Flight of the Conchords looks to be back together.

Called The Flight of The Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords Tour, the string of shows will take the band from Cleveland to L.A., over the course of six weeks this summer, between early June and late July.

“I’m thrilled to get back on the road with over half the original band,” joked McKenzie about the upcoming tour. This will be the first string of shows since 2014.

The opportunity to see the legendary comedy songwriting duo live may be awesome, but the chance to hear new tunes is awesome-er. The Flight of the Conchords haven’t released an album since 2009’s I Told You I Was Freaky. Though a new record has yet to be announced, work on new songs is a good indication that fans might not have much longer to wait for some newly-recorded material.

Those who pick up tickets will also help those in need; The Flight of the Conchords Sing Flight of the Conchords tour is being produced in partnership with Global Citizen, a nonprofit organization devoted to fighting global poverty.
