SXSW has no shortage of streaming-music sites pushing their platforms. You’ve got the Pandora Discovery Den, the Spotify House, the Rdio List. For these platforms, the festival is the perfect intersection between the music and digital worlds – an ideal time, place, and audience for their products.

So – where’s Myspace? You know, the revamped social network with all the music biz buzz, thanks to its focus on being an artist discovery engine and the ownership stake of some guy named Justin Timberlake? Turns out, it’s here, and apparently it’s hanging out with Kid Cudi, Sleigh Bells, and Diplo.

Those are just some of the artists we’re told we can expect as part of Myspace’s secret SXSW concert series. And while we can’t confirm that the aforementioned company co-owner will be making an appearance himself on Saturday night … let’s just say we have a really strong hunch.

These concerts are “secret” because they’re being held later than most (10pm) at an undisclosed location away from the main festival. So, if you want to avoid that uniquely SXSW feeling – you know, the one where you wind up convinced that you just missed something way, way better than whatever you were just doing and, God, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life – you’re going to want to keep an eye on the Myspace pages (the site is now open to all) and Twitter feeds of the artists, as well as the local Austin Twitter feeds.

This has been your SXSW rumor mongering of the day, for what it’s worth. Given what we’re hearing, it’s worth a lot.

What is spatial audio? The 3D sound experience fully explained
Person listening to spatial audio using Apple AirPods Max headphones.

Since Apple added “spatial audio” to the Apple Music streaming service and the AirPods family of wireless earbuds and headphones in 2021, it feels like you can’t read about new audio products or services without running into that term. And just a few short years later, it’s seemingly everywhere.

This has led to a lot of misconceptions about what spatial audio is, how it works, and why you need to hear it for yourself. People often ask, “If Apple created spatial audio, why are other companies claiming they do it, too?” The answer is that Apple didn’t create it, and you certainly don’t need to own its products to experience spatial audio.

Two kids using the Puro Sound PuroQuiet Plus to watch something on a tablet.

Kid-friendly consumer tech is all the rage these days, so it’s no surprise that there’s an entire market of headphones designed exclusively for young ones. But when we think “kid-friendly,” sometimes we imagine products that are built to be a bit more throwaway than their adult counterparts. That’s not the case with the products on our list of the best headphones for kids, though.

We want our child-tailored headphones to include parental-controlled volume limiters, to ensure our children aren’t harming their eardrums. Pretty much every entry on our list checks this vital box, but we also wanted to point you and yours toward products that offer exceptional noise-canceling, built-in mics for phone and video calls, and long-lasting batteries for schooldays or a long flight.
