Walmart JUST restocked the PS5 and Xbox Series X – hurry, hurry, hurry!

Walmart finally restocked next-gen gaming consoles. If you’ve been patiently waiting for a new Xbox X/S or PlayStation 5, now is your time to strike. These consoles have been notoriously difficult to snag since their releases nearly a year ago. So why are you still reading? Go get one!

Both the digital edition and the disc-drive edition of the PlayStation 5 have been notoriously difficult to obtain. The pre-order system was a mess, then every retailer on the planet sold out, then the console started showing up on Ebay at ridiculously high prices. But now that it’s officially in stock at Walmart, you can get it for its retail price. The traditional disc drive version of the console is $499, while the digital edition, which can only play downloaded games, is $399. Remember when the PS3 launched at $599? It may be hard to get your hands on a PS5, but at least the price is reasonable.

The new line of Xbox consoles has been a bit easier to grab than a PlayStation, but getting one still feels like winning the lottery. Whether you’ve been looking for the beefy Xbox Series X or its slimmed down little brother, the Xbox Series S, now is your chance. The X is your traditional next-gen console. Apple announced several new products at its Apple Unleashed event on Monday, the most impressive of which was the M1 Max that's coming to MacBook Pro 2021 models. This revision to the M1 chip bumps up the core count across the CPU and GPU, with the latter scaling up to 32 cores. And a new performance estimate suggests that those cores could be more powerful than the PlayStation 5.

Notebookcheck performed an analysis of the M1 Max's GPU cores to estimate the performance. Using the M1 as a baseline, the outlet was able to extrapolate that the 32-core M1 Max could produce about 10.4 teraflops of GPU power. That's based off of the 8-core M1 chip, which produces about 2.6 teraflops of GPU power.

Huge PlayStation 5 update adds M.2 SSD support, 3D audio for TV speakers

The PlayStation 5 will get a significant global update on September 15. This major update includes storage expansion, improved game streaming with PlayStation Now, and UX enhancements. Updates to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation App, and PS Remote Play App will also roll out in addition to the major PS5 update.

This new update will allow PS5 owners to install an M.2 SSD to expand their storage for both the mainstram PlayStation 5 and the digital-only version of the console. Players can play both PS4 and PS5 games directly from the M.2 SSD storage.
