Celebrities defy Anna Wintour’s no-selfie rule at Met Gala, and she’s not pleased

Justin Bieber and Kimye, congratulations, you just made it onto Anna Wintour's bad list for posting selfies from the Met Gala.
In the fashion world, if there’s one thing you should never do, it’s piss off Anna. That’s Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, who oversees the Met Gala, a star-studded fundraising event to benefit the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. And at this year’s event, Wintour had one strict policy: no selfies. The problem is that many celebrities attend the gala, and many of them are also selfie obsessed, constantly taking self-portraits and sharing them with followers on social media. And some of them dared to defy Anna.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, all the guests were given a notice before entering the event. “The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala,” the notice said. “It has solely to do with guests’ security and enjoyment of the event.”

Although it is not clear why selfies were banned, THR reports that a source close to Vogue said it might have had to do with a documentary being made about the gala theme, “China: Through the Looking Glass.” Although the Chinese government has been in the news for blocking social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Google Plus, there’s no indication that this selfie ban has anything to do with that.

Those potentially on Wintour’s bad side include Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian, and Katy Perry, who all have uploaded their Met Gala selfies to Instagram. According to VH1’s The Gossip Table, a Vogue insider said, “Anna is very aware of all the celebrities who ignored her request. She does not know what she’s going to do yet, but she’s deciding.”

I just love this girl 😍 @ladygaga

While Wintour isn’t active on social media, she isn’t against this digital medium, as she has made select appearances through Vogue’s Instagram and Twitter accounts. Unlike the rule-breaking celebrities, Wintour chooses to interact with fans in other ways. We wish Bieber, Kardashian, and Perry the best of luck, but Wintour does have a sense of humor, as seen in this Late Night with Seth Meyers skit, so she may end up doing nothing.

Best microSD cards in 2023: top picks for your computer, camera, or drone
galaxy s8 tips and tricks

MicroSD cards are an unsung hero in the mobile space. They provide extra storage space for your smartphone, but they're also key in tablets, drones, and security cameras. Unfortunately, this feature is falling out of favor in the smartphone space, and most flagship and midrange phones no longer have a slot to insert a microSD card. Even the most expensive phones around, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Samsung S22 Ultra don't have a microSD card slot anymore. You're not even safe if you have an iPhone or iPad, as they've never had microSD card slots.

But all is not lost! Some of the best Android phones and best Android tablets do still support them, and they're still required for use with cameras, security cameras, and drones. But no matter which device you're buying it for, you'll want to get your hands on a microSD card from a reputable brand.
