Brompton Bikes launches Instagram film contest for city explorers

Brompton Bicycle, the British company famous for its foldable two-wheelers, has just launched a global film contest to promote its limited-edition Black Edition 2016 bike, of which only 5,000 will be made.

To enter, all you have to do is knock together a 15-second sequence focusing on a side of your city rarely seen, and upload it to Instagram.

The lucky winner will bag themselves a weekend for two in London and one of the Limited Edition bikes. Brompton bikes, which don’t come cheap at £785+ (about $1,185), will also be handed to those finishing second and third in the contest.

Judges include Guy Ritchie – director of Sherlock Holmes, Snatch, and the forthcoming King Arthur – as well as Josh Berger, president and MD of Warner Bros. UK.

Entrants need to upload their short film to Instagram with the hashtag #myunseencity, and also tag and follow @bromptonbicycle. You’ll need to geo-tag the city you’re in, too. You have till the end of March to get your video shot and uploaded, so you’ve plenty of time to come up with something original and engaging.

Brompton doesn’t offer any guidance about the video’s content beyond the provided hashtag and a request for “unusual creativity,” so it seems like you’re free to interpret “my unseen city” any way you like.

To see what what the early entries look like, check out the contest’s hashtag here.

Brompton Bicycle has been in business since 1975, with the bike’s modular design changing little over that time. The company hand-builds around 20,000 bikes a year at its west London factory, with some 70 percent of its output sold overseas. The bike’s solid build and ability to be quickly folded into a more transportable package has won it plenty of fans around the world.

Best microSD cards in 2023: top picks for your computer, camera, or drone
galaxy s8 tips and tricks

MicroSD cards are an unsung hero in the mobile space. They provide extra storage space for your smartphone, but they're also key in tablets, drones, and security cameras. Unfortunately, this feature is falling out of favor in the smartphone space, and most flagship and midrange phones no longer have a slot to insert a microSD card. Even the most expensive phones around, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Samsung S22 Ultra don't have a microSD card slot anymore. You're not even safe if you have an iPhone or iPad, as they've never had microSD card slots.

But all is not lost! Some of the best Android phones and best Android tablets do still support them, and they're still required for use with cameras, security cameras, and drones. But no matter which device you're buying it for, you'll want to get your hands on a microSD card from a reputable brand.
